New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
I'm new here, love Forza, just haven't been playing it much lately.
Hopefully I can get involved in a few races on here.
I prefer the lower classes, C-A mainly, but can stretch down to F and up to about R3 at a push, much over that and I'm not keen!
Love my Hondas!

Nice one, that's sorted it!

Welcome to TORA
If your comfort zone is classes C-A, there are always something going on to fit your needs. Just browse around the series threads, and I am sure you'll find something to race and prep for.

Re: New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
Hi Toninho, I'm a completely different person, because I more like the higher R3, R2 and R1 classes .
But nice to meet you!

Re: New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
Are assists always forced off? I can't race without ABS as a minimum, and if its a RWD car I've usually gotta have TCS and STM...
Re: New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
First of all welcome!
ABS & STM are usually off for most championships, though practice without them should do you good. It's the way I had to learn!

Re: New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
I tried, I am simply not disciplined enough with the triggers for either braking or accelerating. I could do it for real but there's no way to feel it in the game.
I joined an online racing site a bit like this back in Forza 3, but had to jack it in as I couldn't get used to not having ABS - I'd either not brake enough or I'd lock the wheels up.

Re: New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
Practice w/o aides and assists, and you'll notice an improvement in your lap times just about everywhere.
Use race brakes, and if you are locking them up, simply decrease the brake pressure until you no longer do that. if you are overshooting corners, crank a little more pressure in, same thing.

Re: New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
To be fair, I've just had another go with ABS off and although most laps were significantly worse, I did manage one lap which was both clean and a whole 0.072 seconds quicker than I just did with ABS on in the '12 Civic Si Coupe I built to the TCC specs.
So I'm actually not as bad as I used to be, but still not very smooth, I sort of pump the brakes, sort of like a very slow, manual version of ABS, haha!

Re: New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
Keep practicing w/o ABS and you'll see that "0" in front of the "7" disappear. Tenths of seconds, if not whole seconds melt away from your lap times in short order. Not immediately, but within a couple days.
When I turned on the clutch, after years of using clutchless manny trans, I lost a full second (or more) in every car I race. It didn't happen immediately, but within a couple days of practicing for a couple hours a day.
I'd suggest "Career Mode" races for getting the hang of it, starting with the lowest level and easiest races to start with, then moving onto something harder and quicker accordingly.

Re: New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
I went from auto to manual no problem, then manual to manual with clutch no problem either, it's just the ABS I'm struggling with. I'll give it a few days though, see what I can do.
Re: New Here - Not Played Forza for a While
I switched to ABS off at the start of Forza 4 and still lock up from time to time, don't stress it dude. It will all get better with practice. After a couple of weeks you'll never go back. You'll end up breaking later with more confidence. What I did at first was hold the trigger up higher making it harder to pull and I also tried to not use the very end of my finger again making the trigger less responsive.
Keep trying buddy and welcome to TORA.

Maybe at the Nürburgring, but most tracks you'd struggle to get a full second just out of the clutch, but it definitely does help. You can see in same-build races, or stock races.
