Selling my car.
Just in case anyone on here is interested, I'm changing cars within the next few weeks. I posted this on FB but thought I'd post it here as well. I have more/better pics at home but since I'm at work I can't get them.
Well, after 5 years of ownership I'm looking to get rid of the mighty Clio. Hopefully getting a new car within the next few weeks and trading mine in against it, but if anyone is interested then I'd be happy to sell the car privately. It's only done 24,500 miles so it's practically brand new, just needs a wee spruce up for the service in January. MOT'd on Monday for the year and taxed for 6 months. Great little car that I'll probably miss, but it's time for a change.

Re: Selling my car.
I know it doesn't help saying this Richy, but a car like that with that with as low miles as it has would sell like hotcakes over here. Stinks that this great country I live in doesn't allow cars like that to cross the ocean. Stupid politicians!! Good luck selling it and with what you get next!!
Re: Selling my car.
If I could import it into Canada, and hadn't just bought a car, I'd probably be interested. I've allways wanted a Clio. I'll import a V6 someday.
Re: Selling my car.
If anyone knows anyone who is interested the let me know. I'm looking for no less than £7000 privately as I'm getting a good PX on the car I'm looking at.
It's been a great car and basically runs as if it's being run in - probably still is. After having it for so long I just feel a bit of an upgrade is required.

Re: Selling my car.
Anyone have any tips on buying used? I bought my car used but it was less than a year old at the time. The cars I'm looking at are the same age as the Clio (07-08) so not sure what to look out for.
Re: Selling my car.
I always got told to never buy used from a random person over a website like Auto Trader. Instead, buy from a garage, like a Ringways Ford garage or a dedicated Renault garage. The used cars are likely to be in very good nick, and usually have a full service history. Although they will cost slightly more.

Re: Selling my car.
Yeah I have been looking, but they seem to be a good 3-5k more expensive than what I am looking at so similar age and mileage.Kilroy8 wrote:I always got told to never buy used from a random person over a website like Auto Trader. Just not sure if buying one the same age as what I have is wise, as I know it'll need work. Saying that, I can't afford anything new with the sort of performance I'm looking at :/
Re: Selling my car.
Richy, any chance you can put it on hold for 3 years!? I wouldn't mind having it as my first car!
Re: Selling my car.
I would guess 50% of its actual value. Meaning Richy would probably get £3000-£4000 for it
Re: Selling my car.
Can't afford anything new that I'd like
Suffice to say, cars in Scotland are more expensive than the equivalent in England, private or garage. I also get less money for my car against others no matter where I look. The garages down south offered me £6500 for mine without even seeing it, which is why I'd like £7000 private is possible. We Buy Any Car has offered me £5000 :/
I'd easily travel down to buy a car even if it was in London, but I'm not keen on driving so far to first see the car and then test drive it. I'd buy a completely new car down south, but used is a bit of a push.
Going to see one in a manufacturer garage up here next week which is a bit more expensive, but will get the benefit of a 12 month warranty and service and such.
Buying a car is so confusing

Re: Selling my car.
Haha! I am 15 and a Clio would do me nicely. Fun track day car? SRT VIPER FTW! The Clio would be a great city, cruiser even a track day car. So much potential, 3 years too early...
Re: Selling my car.
I was actually looking at Clios. Unfortunately that car is way too expensive for me, and the insurance will be astronomical

Re: Selling my car.
If I was old enough to drive and I had the money I would buy this car. Very nice sporty looking car, I'm sure it's fun to drive as well.
