My chance to shine or blow up
This Saturday and Sunday, I will be competing in two very different events.
Saturday's event will be:
Sunday's event will be this: Autocross
My weapon of choice will be my 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo.
Current setup on the car is as follows:
-Luxon strut tower brace
-Pierce Motorsport rear torsion bar
-K&N 69 Series Typhoon Short Ram Intake
-Borla Cat-back exhaust
Other than those modifications the rest of the car is stock. For the drag race, the only people I will driving against are maybe two other Veloster owners and a friend that has a Lexus IS350. The autocross, I don't know what class I will be in, but it will be against everyone in that class. I know if I had some TORA decals on the car it would add at least 150-200 hp and I'd win every race. But, I'll have to it without them to keep it fair for everyone else. Give's the little people a glimmer of hope. If I'm able to I'll post some photo's and video from each race.

Re: My chance to shine or blow up
Yep, that's my new car. As of today it only has just about 1625 miles on it. It's ok about the stickers, the way the U.S. Postal Service is it will take 6 months to get to me. I ordered something from St. Louis and it took 6 days to get to me. Really USPS 6 days. The strut bar I got for the car came from S. Korea and it took 4 days through their mail service. Maybe in the future I'll get some from ya. I can send the money to pay for them via Paypal whenever you got the time.Standaman94 wrote:Isn't that your new car?

Re: My chance to shine or blow up
I take it Autocross isn't the same over there in the states?!
Over here its usually in a grass field or sand beach and its usually pretty bumpy and people usually 'bump' each other! Haha!
Good luck all the same!

It's a coned course on tarmac, normally a huge car park or open space from what i've seen before.Pidge107 wrote:I take it Autocross isn't the same over there in the states?!

Re: My chance to shine or blow up
Well everyone, my weekend of racing is done. Unfortunately Saturday's drag race was rained out. It was thank to the track personnel waiting till the last minute for the rain to start to call it off. Of course, no one got their money back, but they supposedly said we will get vouchers to race Oct 5th (I'll be out of town, so $25 wasted). On the other hand Sunday was awesome!! It was hot (91° F), but a great day. Instead of running a parking lot like most Auto-X's do. We ran on an oval track. So that gave us some really good speed in the corners. There were 3 classes, but the classes were not divided up in any special order. You had Audi R8 V10's running against Miata's in the same class. Most of the cars there were Porsche's, but there was a wide variety of others. There was an Audi R8 V10, a couple of Nissan GT-R's, multiple Mustangs, a Dodge Challenger SRT-8, a couple of Hyundai Veloster Turbo's, a Nissan Maxima, a Miata, a couple of Suburu WRX's and a couple of Ford Focus'. I think total there were 50+ cars that had entered.
Each car was able to do 3 runs apiece. I had to do 4 because my 3rd runs time was dis-allowed due to a timing error. I had to leave early because my back was killing me. I think my time around the course though averages 53.06 to 53.601. I put my girl to the test pretty hard and she came through with flying colors. I wasn't able to get a TORA decal made before the event because everyone locally wanted outrageous prices or have me made a run of 500 or more. I did do one thing in tribute to TORA, I ran my number (41).
Below is a picture of the course (I apologize for some of the spelling errors) and my car getting ready to run. I'll have more pics up later along with video of my runs. I want to thank everyone for the well wishes and YES, I had a blast. Reminded me of my VIP (Vehicle Intercept Pursuit) training when I was a Deputy.
