Rest in Peace My Friend

I know that to some this will sound hokey and maybe even pathetic, but not to a pet owner...

Just over 24 hours ago, my family lost a dear old member, as Jack the Cat died of age related causes at 17 years of age.

In his day, he was the neighborhood badass amongst the kitties, and brought us not only 17 years of joy and love, but also many snakes, rodents, the occasional bird and once a bat. He'd protect the squirrels from other cats, and protect their nuts from the birds.

As he got older, he mellowed quite a bit, and two years ago, after the passing of his lifelong friend Sam, we brought home a kitten named Rowdy. He raised Rowdy as his very own, taught him the rights and wrongs of the house, and never once got angry with his little friend.

Having been a birthday present to my wife all those years ago, it hit her very hard as he passed just two days shy of her birthday this year. And after digging the burial hole this morning, I broke down myself as I shoveled the dirt onto him.

Then I realized he lived a great life for a cat, well past the average age, and as matter of fact was indeed older than quite a few of the racers here at TORA.

Here's to you Jack, thanks for all the years of good times, buddy. Cheers
