Was playing with the Game DVR feature a bit last night and there's a lot more functionality than I realised before - it's appears that it's ALWAYS recording the last 5 minutes, and you can save that last 5 minutes at any time, not just the last 30 seconds using the "Xbox Record That" command.

So for example, to record the last 5 minutes of a Forza race, when you get to the end say:

"Xbox Snap Game DVR"

Then

"End Clip"

Then

"5 minutes"

(other options are available, 30 seconds, 45, 60, 1 min, 3 min, 5 min)

That will save the last 5 minutes of any gameplay clip - you don't have to go in before hand and START Game DVR as was I thought originally, it's actually always there recording. The "Xbox Record That" command is just a shortcut to save the last 30 seconds.

Because this is all voice controlled too, you could theoretically record a full 20 minute Forza race for example with 4 voice commands during the race - it's not as ideal as saving a replay, but it does give some additional scope for saving replays, especially until Twitch broadcasting app is available. The saved game clips can then be edited using Upload Studio. I'll do some more testing with this, but I think there's some potential here - could have multiple drivers save their own onboard clips and piece together some race footage perhaps?

Exactly Worm, sometimes people are far too quick to be negative about things, especially when they're just 'different'.

I mean look at Forza 4 - it's limited to 25 minute replays, so that's a massive limitation that stops any coverage of longer races, without doing it live. But with Game DVR you can record a 5 minute segment from 1 hour 30 mins into a stint if you wanted to, if there was a great battle and wanted to save it later on into a race. With Forza 4, you can't record it at all unless it's being live streamed. Again, for incidents and SI's, these can never be looked at if it's past 25 minutes, but now they could be with a Game DVR clip. A spectate option would really open up so many possibilities, get someone to jump in - watch the race and save 5 minute clips from different angles etc, and then use Upload Studio to create race highlights, or upload via SkyDrive to create a longer programme. When the Twitch broadcast app launches too, mulitple drivers can stream their car feeds, and also save Game DVR clips too.

I'm not defending the lack of multiplayer replay saving, as I think it's something that's definitely needed in the game, but certainly there are alternative approaches that can be taken to still provide some race replay footage, with the hope of better multiplayer options in the future.

It is.....and so are you....otherwise you'd be more than 1.2 seconds quicker without it!

Not sure that everyone streaming is going to be a good idea, could end up as jazz hands galore. Also not sure that people recording clips is a good idea either, especially as you have to use voice commands. Nine times out of ten it works but it can "hear" something else and on that rare occasion it could in theory pause your game and take you somewhere like Xbox Music, causing mayhem on track as you're not in control of your car.

Turn 10 just need to pull their heads out of their posteriors and address the issue and get Spectator mode and replays back in the game before people start migrating away from the game.

TCS is quicker in the E21 theres no doubt about it, its just like this season Vettel replicated TCS and just drove away over a second a lap quicker minimum.

That was my inspiration for the HR Global Ford GT Silverstone TEC livery. If I had FM5, I know I could do it for you.

It was more of a engine map that replicated it, the sound difference between himself and Webber was huge on lift off and acceleration.

No matter how hard I try I doubt I could match my TCS time, it's the slow corners where you can just stamp on the accelerator. Maybe with a wheel I could control the throttle better, but I've reached my limit with a controller.

hey just to be clear on this....if i get an XB1....i most likely wouldn't be able to either....but to my knowledge.....no tcs system has ever beaten a pro driver in a like for like comparison (tcs vs no tcs) same car test....

I rate Tanner Foust....and rate McLaren's MP4 12C and its tech ...but.....Tanner beat himself in the MP4 12C without assists compared to the MP4 12C with its assists around a bump street circuit.....he did say it's now closer than ever but the race driver still has it.

Vettle no assists vs Vettle with assists in the same RB F1 car i believe would have the same result! assists would lose ;O)

I think its more so still a learning curve once everyone is fully suited to the new game and controller we will see no assist drivers shining again.

no the assists debate once more if I didnt have kids and no work I would go 1 second quicker than I currently do.....why practice practice practice

Computer precision will always beat human skill, but the trouble is programming a system to do so. No TCS has done so yet.
