So many people are wanting more simulation, more difficult and realistic driving, faster cars, turn off all assists as they slow you down kinda attitude.

People sometimes say its a simulation racer and should have assists off etc..

I found this tweet very humbling.

This is one of the stand out features for forza I feel, It trully does cater to all types of gamers.

The steer and braking asist allow you to have young gamers and indeed people with disabilities enjoy the same great game we do Smile

Always been a fan of letting people choose their own assists though steering and braking assist would be going too far I think and would cause accidents.

Over at universe we have a guy that uses the braking assist,
He is happy just racing with us but you do have to be careful to not be close to him going into a corner.

For non competetive racing though, Just enjoying the game thay are awesome assists.

My nephew when he was 5 could play forza and not crash like what would happen in most racing games at his age.
This made him feel like a racing god and two years later he still talks about that racing game where he didnt crash once Very Happy

The other thing that stood out to me, is Forza replied on the first request for this question. He also sent a message to WRC4 and it took 10 attempts before someone even replied, with simply, "no, not for WRC4"

I remember getting into a heated arguement on fm.net with a guy that belittled everyone that used any assists, even brake line.

I leveled with him, and mentioned....it's for everyone, not only for you

They come and go. That argument has been going on forever, I just ask them if they want to race or hot lap and they go away.

We all (well most of us here) want a true sim racer but there hasn't been anyone to challenge Forza for ages on console so I guess they're the only people to moan to to get what we want! But now I don't really mind now PCARS will, hopefully, satisfy we craving for true simulation!!!!

If it were up to me, organized league races would be held with whatever assists are allowed in the series we are trying to simulate...

,... and when someone invents a real world braking line, I would happily allow it to be used in any car that has it in real life.

I guess as a purist, the use of the most unrealistic assist of them all does bother me some. If you are talented enough to race A Lobby at TORA and VM, then you should have a good idea of your brake and turning points.

I agree with your last point Mikey, but I do use the braking line personally and I'm statistically faster/more successful with no braking line, but I use it so I don't crash into anyone else or a wall when I inevitably forget I'm not using the braking line and miss my braking zone completely Razz !

Steve, you're new to all this, so I'm giving you a free pass on use of brake line for now.

But for those that have been racing in Forza leagues for years, on the same tracks over and over, by now you should be able to find the natural line of the track on your own w/o some arcadey line popping up on the windscreen.

I agree with you Mikey, racing line assists do annoy me when others use them especially in leagues and competitions. However, each league should enforce
whatever rules for assists that they see fit. I personally have never used braking or suggested line, I like to let the car talk to the track.

I'll admit, I've always been a purist, and the braking line does bug me quite a bit, but I remember racing with someone who required some aids for physical reasons. I had no problems catering for him in that situation. We're all here to have fun, and I'm happy for everyone to be included.

I was just always bugged about the vast number of super quick drivers at the sharp end, all using things like braking line when they don't have to. Or the old ''I use TCS, but I never throttle hard enough to engage it'' bs.

" How can I possibly learn the brake zones for every track in every car???"

Um, try practicing? And really, you need such a crutch for Spec Cup? Or LeMans, after a month of practicing with all six brake zones?

Personally think that using the braking line is perfectly reasonable, it makes up for the lack of visibility you get in game compared to real life driving. Some people haven't got the time to pound out lap after lap practicing braking points.

Just allow assists. This isn't real life. This is a game. I still use braking line because I suck at remembering braking points.

Well, it doesn't make a difference in the same way that TCS does for example. But if you learnt the track without racing line, you can pick up a few tenths maybe, because you can brake as late as you know is possible, whereas the racing line is telling you when to brake, and it often tells you to brake marginally earlier than what you should be. This is just my observation, and I rarely run without the line anyway, because I hardly ever practice for race meetings.

I never ran the braking line in the tora or xplr races or in any game. I had a few up the arse crashes on the brakes but now have come to the conclusion that's why its been happening 85% of the time. affraid
I practice the track finding a braking marker or turn in point, be it a yards board or a sign/billboard etc. But because some other use this line they rely on it and brake a bit earlier and as i'm looking for my marker not a massive red line, a few rear end crashes have happened. I trail brake ( bike racer technique) to the apex, don't use the ABS and set my car up for corner speed, may not the best racer or style but its mine. Some suggested I turn it on but that's not racing for me, its a signal to pull a trigger or push a button. in my opinion there should be no assists/line what so ever! BUT every series has the right to make there own rules, be it assists or not.. only an opinion. forza 5 im using ABS as the brake bias it terrible No
