2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

Can't really say much about the nose from that, But I reckon that the front of the monococque stays pretty much level til the wheel centreline, as the regs specify, so the nose might not be as smooth as it looks there.  Could be wrong though.  The image could be deceiving, but the wing struts look very long, and may form some sort of walrus arrangement, maybe.  I'm basing that on some sketches off Craig Scarborough's excellent F1 blog.

I'll try and do some drawings to show what I mean.

The nose isn't the one they plan to run, just a 'placeholder' if you will so that they can go testing and if all else fails have something to fall back on.
They started working on some 'aggressive solutions' a while back apparently.

^Can't see image, but I was reading about this on SSN this morning. That nose, eurgh.

I imagine the car would look quite a bit different in the flesh & when it's plastered up with sponsors, at the minute, that colour kind of reminds me of the Prost cars back in 2001.

I don't understand why they didn't think this would happen when they adjusted the regulations, that looks simply terrible.

I think you underestimate how big an operation Haas Racing is.  Steeped in history in CART and IndyCar.

I think you have the wrong Haas. Carl Haas was the Indycar guy, Gene Haas was a backmarker NASCAR team owner before he partnered with Tony Stewart and Rick Hendrick.

This is essentially what happens when you leave very clever engineers with a set of very restrictive regulations. This is also what happens when you try to write the regs to make an aesthetically pleasing car, you get some rather unexpected and unforseen consequences.

The Mclaren looks the least crappy

So far, the Force India looks the best, although we haven't gotten a good look at the nose.

McLaren looks nice, but similar to the Mercedes. I thought McLaren said they had a new sponsor to 2014.

So we have both the 'man-bits' nose and the 'women-bits' nose now. Whatever next.

I really don't mind the look of the McLaren! Obviously I'd prefer it if it didn't look like a gentleman's vegetable but nevertheless!

The McLaren SHOULD be fast. if it's not serious questions need to be answered after writing off 2013 to build it!

Also I think it's worth noting the absence of Martin Whitmarsh from the launch which could be VERY telling....

Eric Boullier quit Lotus, might be TP at Mclaren. Either way, Whitmarsh isn't going to be TP this season, Big Ron wants him out.

IMO Eric wouldn't be a good choice, never did anything with lotus when they started two season very promisingly.
