A Long-Awaited Introduction From A Fan Of Forced Induction

Post by Made en Japan on Tue 18 Feb 2014 - 20:31

Hello, TORA.

My name is Michael, and it's been quite some time since I've played Forza. I have been hooked since the original title, and even back to the first Gran Turismo days. I raced online in a few FM4 series, particularly the Forza World Endurance Series, which was based on ALMS specs. After getting hooked on online racing communities and series, I left home. I joined the US Air Force right out of high school, and after long months of waiting to start basic training, I was finally in. My journey took me to Texas for half a year before sending me to South Dakota, where I worked on the B1 Bomber. I lived in the dorms, and it took me a while to get set up (I had to save up for several months to piece together a tv, an Xbox, and internet for live, since the Xbox I used at home before I left wasn't mine). I had been in SD for several months by the time I got everything I needed, and that was right around the time my life was changed forever.

I'm an avid mountain biker, and have been for over a decade. Moving out west really opened my eyes to the possibilities and scale of things, and I pushed myself to grow as a rider. I mostly ride downhill (For those of you who have no idea what downhill is: do a google search for "Pinkbike Why We Love Downhill v3"), and May 26, 2013 left me paralyzed from the chest down after a crash on a road gap. Since then, I have been medically discharging from the military, recovering, and trying to rebuild my empire from scratch. I'm still working to get a grant for hand controls for my vehicle (I have plans to race SCCA autocross), and I just got an Xbox One. I never really got a chance to get as involved with the Forza community before I joined the military, so after several years... Here I am! I'm absolutely stoked to see how strong the online racing community is, and I can't wait to get involved.

P.S. Thanks for giving me something to do that involves racing... I haven't driven anything since May 2013, and I'm having withdrawals! #mustpushthelimitsofsomethingsoon  Cheers

That's one of the best back stories I've heard in an Introduction!  Cheers
except for the paralysis part :(my condolences to you
I used to do downhill mountain biking on the down low before one of my best mates broke most of the bones in his body and it turned me away from the sport
anyway, Welcome to TORA,
Hope to race with you soon!

Air Force, Eh? Nice one. I hope to join the Army soon, but my dad served in the Royal Air Force (both are better than the Navy Razz)B1 is the Lancer, right? A very nice piece of design it is!

Sorry to hear about your accident, but it's refreshing to see someone so upbeat about their situation.

The racing here is phenomenal, particularly when we were in full flow on the X360. There's been a slight split between X360 & XB1, but we have fantastic series for both games. I believe there is a FM5 Production GT Series in the not too distant future Smile

Wow, thanks for the responses and warm welcomes, guys. Feel free to add me if you wanna do some laps or something, but be warned... I suck. I used to race with a CSR wheel, and obviously I now have to use a controller. I'm getting used to it, but still have a long way to go!  3rd

Yep, that's the one! It's a neat bird, but if it ain't leaking, it's broken. Thing leaks hydro from the wings and engine nacelles when it's not flying, because it was designed so that it's "settled" correctly in flight. Having to work on something that old was no easy task.
