Very cool, Chris. Would advise that you take your time learning iRacing, it can be very unforgiving, and they stick you in that damn MX5 to begin with... I wish they'd start you with the Skip Barber but it's whatever.

Re: My rig has arrived
Looking forward to the challenge guys, something new and fresh.
Hopefully if im not awful at it we should put a TORA team together for an enduro.

F4H should be fielding a team for the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans in October... something to consider

Re: My rig has arrived
On another note I'm not sure if competing in 3 Lemans 24s in 1 year is good for you.
Re: My rig has arrived
Sure it is! It's a lot more forgiving than the Nuerburgring is, that's for sure.
Re: My rig has arrived
I can give you an idea of what not to do, because I did this: focus too much on the Safety Rating in lieu of trying to go for the win.
I'm sitting at Oval-A and Road-B Class licenses now, but my iRating is shot as a result. (1400~ & 1100~ respectively)
And the new Miata is a ton better than the NC Miata most of us started out in.
If y'all have any painting questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

Re: My rig has arrived
For the first 4 or 5 races, get safety rating and get out of the Rookie licence. Then build up safety rating as a buffer and then go for wins to build up the irating.
Of course everyone is different but find a car you like and grind out that series

Re: My rig has arrived
I've been toying with the idea of Iracing and like all of the comments I hear.
Every time I look at kit it just blows my mind and seeing as I consistantly buy kit that is gadgety but crap at the job intended (apart from power tools of which I am master) I thought I'd ask you guys.
Been a controller boy in chase view for so long I find it all a bit intimidating.
Any advice?

Re: My rig has arrived
Honestly, the best advice I can give is to use the Grip TV $15 for 3 month promo code and if you dont like it, then at least you have tried it.
XB1 controllers still work on iRacing and there are some quick racers using the controller so theres no need to rush out and buy a wheel.
Alot of people will try to warn new users that iRacing costs a lot of money but in reality, its xbox's older brother. You should only buy what you need rather than buy what you want on there (trust me, thats difficult enough) but nothing is needed really until you have the final goal of either GT3 or the F1 McLaren.
Unfortunately, it is a career sim so this game puts you in the drivers seat. If you spend a few days pounding round offline tracks like Lime Rock or Summit Point in the MX5, Caddillac or Ford V8 Supercar, you'll soon get a feel for the car widths and get used to is.
Last bit of advice from me would be start from the pits in a race. Getting out of Rookies should only take 4 races and any contact can halt that quickly. Beware of the mad drivers, but you'll spot them from Xbox public lobbies. They are usually mid pack starters and dont brake for turn 1
