Number Clearout 2017

Hi everyone! As some of you may know, especially if you've applied for a race number recently, the sheet is getting very full. What we are planning to do during december is to remove all drivers from the sheet who haven't been active within the last 3 months and free up some space. Once that has been done, you will be given the opportunity to change your number if you so wish. This will be announced on the site during december. If you want to keep your number and have been active within the last 3 months then you have nothing to worry about! We do request that the number changes are done before the 7th of January as the new year of racing at TORA starts soon after it. By doing this we hope to make it easier for new members to find and choose a number and for current members to maybe find a number that suits them more. Many thanks, the TORA Staff Team. Smile

To clear a few things up for some people, we have not currently cleared out all of the numbers that need vacating. Which means that until we do sort through all 1000 numbers you will have to wait until you can pick. We estimate we will be done in a few weeks time. The above announcement is just to let you know what we are doing and for you to be eyeing up any numbers you would like. Once we are done, we will post another announcement letting you know that you are able to start switching numbers. Many thanks, TORA Staff Team Smile

Question: If you want to keep your race number and have NOT been active (taken part in a race series) within the last 3 months, can you keep your race number by requesting to do so in this thread? Or is that not an option this year and all "non-active" race numbers will be cleared out / freed up irrespective?

I am curious about this as well because I have not been active but my team THR (Team Highlands Racing) is going to race in many series in 2017 and I would like to not have to worry about re-requesting my number.

I think if you participate in the TEC Roar Before the 24 of Daytona this weekend your good to keep your number.

Posting on the forums and racing this weekend both counts towards being active. We are mostly taking away the people who have a number and have never raced really Smile

Why not just have series specific race numbers ? It's seems kinda odd in having site wide numbers when the majority of people here only race in one series.
Surely it's easier to have numbers 1 > 99 open for every series to be picked on a first come first serve basis.

Staff have considered this idea but we found a couple of problems with it. The first being that there would end up being some discrepancies as to who gets each number and some people wouldn't be happy having to use a different number each time etc. plus some people (Take AdamWatson99 for example) like to use the same number for every series for a specific reason, Adam uses 99 because it's in his gamertag and other people have attachments to other numbers too.
It would be an extra headache for everyone when signing up for a new series and for painters not being able to paint in advance because they don't know who will get which number too... Seems like a good idea to begin with but it unfortunately will make more headaches than it solves.

Yes, Darkzer24 makes sure his number for every series is 24 with r/redditracing on reddit. He's the main Forza mod too so he kinda gets that power. I like the idea of site wide numbers you have here and it seems very fair.

Unfortunately, I think the person with the number I want is still active so I can't steal it from him. Guess I'll just stay with 354 instead of 353 like my username.

Word from TJ is that he is almost done making a doc or 2 so that we can have people confirm they want to keep their numbers and/or change them if needs be Smile
