Round 1a - Duel at Daytona

Welcome to the start of TASCAR Season 6!

Note: Racing at Ovals, especially at Daytona, can be chaotic. I advise everyone to please be aware of the cars around them when changing direction as one slight tap could take out half the field. Please do not abuse the fact that we run Fuel & Tyre damage only on ovals. To alleviate some of the cautions, we will be using the American Iron style start procedure, with drivers only allowed to start racing when their individual row of the grid reaches the start/finish line.

Secondly, please refrain from saying "Caution" unless there are 2 or more confirmed drivers involved in a wreck. If you were not involved, do not call a caution.

As is tradition in both TORA TASCAR and the real series, the first round at Daytona features a unique qualifying format. On Sunday, February 5th at 9PM UK / 4PM EST, The Duals at Daytona will take place. This event will set the grid for round one, the Daytona 375 which takes place on Saturday, February 11th at 9PM UK / 4PM EST.

The Duels at Daytona will comprise of two stages. Stage 1 will be held in the Day, Stage 2 will be held at night.

Stage 1:
- 2 flying laps to get your best lap in. qualifying lobby will be set to 4 laps, for an Out lap and an In-lap. Once on your 4th lap, please, ALL DRIVERS, stop on the back straight, so lobby hosts can record your times. P1 and P2 times are locked in.

Stage 2:
- 2x 30 lap sprint races to determine the Left and Right side of the grid. positions 3, 5, 7, etc will race in one race, while positions 4, 6, 8, etc will race in the other. There will be a mandatory pit-stop in this race. You may not make your mandatory pit-stop in the first or last five laps of a race; as per usual TASCAR rules.

Cautions can be called if 2 or more drivers are involved in a collision. Pace car speed for cautions and restarts is 80mph

With the grid set by the Duels at Daytona the previous weekend, it's time for the first round of the championship! If you entered qualifying there's no need to sign in again. If you missed qualifying but wish to race, please comment below and I will add you to the list.

The race will take place on Saturday, February 11th at 9PM UK / 4PM EST. The race will comprise of three stints of 50 laps, with one mandatory pit-stop in each segment. You may not make your mandatory pit-stop in the first or last five laps of a race; as per usual TASCAR rules.

How long will the race last

Difficult to say really. The night race of the same length last season was over within 3 hours, maybe even 2 hours. I wouldn't expect it to be any longer than that
