Steward Inquiries - News and Info
There have been numerous updates and revisions to the stewards guidelines and procedures for 2017.The one's that you all need to be aware of are;
Video replay evidence: While replay evidence has always been required, it is often not readily available when an inquiry is filed, sometimes taking several days. This makes it even more difficult for the stewards to resolve inquiries in a timely manner. Going forward, inquiries will NOT be accepted without the required replays. If a replay is not available, the SI cannot be filed.
Appeals: There will no longer be an appeals process. Appeals were rarely ever filed, and rarer still was a decision overturned. Note that members of the senior staff also take part in stewards discussions and decisions. All stewards decisions will now be final.
Penalties: Penalties in several areas have been increased this season, especially corner cutting and causing contact. TORA prides itself on high standards and quality of racing. Those standards were not always adhered to last season. Violations will now carry stiffer penalties, up to and including disqualifications. Repeat offenses can result in suspensions or even bans.
If you have any questions on the above, feel free to contact Hunty, myself, or a member of the staff.
