TORA ASCC - Round 2 Driver's Briefing & Track Limits Indy_s10

Round 2 - Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Welcome to Round 2 of the American Sports Car Championship Season 2.  Our next race finally sees us leaving Florida and heading up north to Indiana to the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Few circuits around the world can stand up to the seer-speed and history that Indy has to offer.  "The Brickyard" was the first circuit in the world to bear the name "Speedway", it famously can fit several of the world's largest sporting stadiums within its infield, and it is of course home to the Indy500 and IndyCar.  We will only be using the oval for part of our race, however, as we will be using Indy's Road Course which was redesigned in 2014 to add the Indy Grand Prix race to the IndyCar schedule.

Qualifying - Qualifying will take place 1-hour prior to race start time (2:00 pm EDT/7:00 pm BST).  Drivers will have 15 minutes to set their fastest, clean lap. Remember that drivers should be/appear online 15 minutes prior to qualifying start, and should keep in-lobby chat to a minimal.

Race - The race will be a timed race lasting 90 minutes.  The lobby will be set to 1hr 40 minutes to allow time for drivers to finish the race and collect times.  A change this year is that the race time will include the pace lap, so drivers are asked to get into their grid positions as quickly as possible.  When 90 minutes has passed, drivers will continue to race until they race the start finish line.  Drivers will then line in in finishing order in Turn 1.  Do not forget to Sign-In using the form in the Race Sign-In Form & Live Timing Thread!

Pit Stops - There will be 2 mandatory stops for GT and 3 mandatory stops for DP.

If anyone has further questions, please post them in this thread.  Good luck, and I will see you all on track.

TORA ASCC - Round 2 Driver's Briefing & Track Limits Empty Indy Track Limits

Post by BigBen13x Sun 18 Mar 2018 - 19:25

For this race, we are making clarifications as to track limits at specific sections of the track. Drivers are reminded that the TORA standard is that2 wheels MUST remain on track at all times, designated by the lines on the outside of the track.  However, for this race, we will allow some leyway when it comes to the kerbs at Indy.  The following are examples where these extensions will be allowed.

Turn 1:
While it is very easy to cut this corner, drivers must keep at least two wheels on the track side kerbing as shown below.

Turn 6 & 7:
In the mid-lap "chicane", drivers must keep at least two wheels on the track side kerbing as shown below.  Remember to keep two wheels over the white line when exiting this "chicane".

THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Turn 11:
Again, it is easy to cut this corner, but drivers must again keep at least two wheels on the track side kerbing as shown below.

Turn 15:
For the final corner, drivers are allowed to go the whole way out and put no more than two tires on this grass section as the track rejoins the front straight.

Pit Exit:
When exiting the pits, drivers are reminded that they must follow this white line the who way out to where it ends before moving back on to the track.

I hope this clears everything up for everyone!

With everything clarified, we will be extremely strict. Naturally, everyone will be pushing as hard as possible and mistakes happen. If you push the limits a bit too much then concede the advantage. If you consistently breach the limits or directly profit from doing it, it is likely to warrant action.

We will also be extremely strict in qualifying where you may stand to profit to higher lobbies.
