Oval Racing 101

Post by nickyf1 on Tue Dec 22, 2009 9:31 pm

Okay, after the complete DISASTER of tonights racing, here are a few tips so we can stay green...

-on a rolling start or restart, make sure you are 50ft or more behind the car infront
-keep idle chat to a minimum, keep it strictly to ''Inside'', ''Outside'', ''Low'', ''High'', ''left'', ''right'' and ''Clear'' for when you fall behind them (if you do)
-ALWAYS worry about drivers that are along side you, never cars that are behind you. You are not the only car on the racetrack GIVE THEM ROOM! This is vital for staying under green conditions.
-If your car understeers, LIFT OFF THE THROTTLE! Dont hit the wall and cause a wreck! Especialy at places like Sedona, lifting while side by side with someone actualy HELPS you get by them, you lose no speed, you simply get to turn a little tighter.
-SLOWLY ease down to the saftey car speed, DONT brake all of a sudden, and if you need to, get out of the way! Use the apron for gods sake! Very Happy

I hope this helps.

Bump! since the season is approaching, this needs to be read some more.

Please guys, we all need to work together to have good races that are always green!

Oh, and THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE FOR CIRCLE TRACK RACING::::::

BE PATIENT! wait for the right time to make a move, don't fire in and cause wrecks, it annoys the hell out of everybody else.

If ever the spirit of endurance racing needs to be applied its here.
Don't try to win in the first corner. Bide your time and wait for mistakes. Shame we can't have spotters though Razz

With that being said also remember Ricky Bobby.....

You say that, but people are just not willing to take extra care to avoid crashes, especially at Sedona.

And Bump Drafting should be kept to a minimum, it causes far too many accidents. If you are gonna hit someone in a corner, GET THE HELL OFF THE THROTTLE! Or go High.

Also, if you go inside, call it, if you go outside, call it, if they are clear of you ahead, call it.
