Airsoft Skirmishing

Post by Crisis Nine on Mon Mar 08, 2010 3:57 pm

Anyone off here tried this?

If you're not familiar with it it's basically an organised and tactical war game played with high power full-auto air rifles and semi auto air pistols and sniper rifles.

Some videos of it can be found here:

http://www.youtube.com/firstandonlyairsoft

This was the recent game at a site called The Asylum which is in the grounds and buildings of an old mental health hospital. I was in attendance and it was a real good day. You know when you get hit.

It is simmilar to paintball in the sense that you fire at people with weapons firing high velocity non-lethal rounds, but the similarities end there. The average speed of an airsoft pellet is around 370 feet per second, making it much faster than a paintball and the weapons put spin on the pellets meaning they travel much greater distances. The players are all very serious about the game and will use tactics instead of everyone doing a John J Rambo run and gun.

There are several sites around England that I am aware of, three of which are in Kidderminster. There are also some sites in Reading (an old shopping mall), Manchester (an old nightclub) and Matlock. If anyone is interested in getting involved I suggest you do because it is always an awesome day. And not as expensive as you might think. £45 for an entire days play, inculding hire of weapon, 1000 BBs, hire of face protection and any other clothing, plus lunch and training. Its a good deal all round.

oh heck yes.

Airsoft is a ton of fun, I was reading not long ago that a couple people that organize this stuff want to have airsoft battles in abandoned office buildings since there are so many of them now because of the economy.

holy moly that'd be fun. it'd be like playing the first Die Hard

How awesome would it be to create a scenario similiar to the 1st Die hard. You'd have bruce willis wannabe's foaming at the mouth.

Unfortunately, I stick with the boring sport of paintball. Airsoft is crazy illegal here and some of my friends got busted for it. That looks insane though, and I really wanna try that.

Not in Chicago....

"For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”

In Chicago, it doesn't matter if your ALLOWED to or not. People just have em and use em regardless.

So how to you score points in this if there is no paint to prove that you have been hit? I assume that when you get hit you actually fall over in pain?

Its called the "honor system" i believe, trusting people to say when they are hit.

99% of people will abide by this. Airsoft players are notoriously passionate about the honour system. If you don't feel it, you will hear it.
