Yeah I'll be getting one, might wait until the end of the year when they are bundled with Kinect.

Re: Xbox 360 S
I was going to get one but Microsoft want you to pay even more money on a data transfer kit.
My plan was to just trade in my Elite but there are some games that i refuse to lose my save data, Im not paying £200 for another 360 when i already have 2. Admittedly 1 has the RROD but im going to fix it myself and maybe mod that box.
Even if i just spent the cash on one and a data transfer kit, i would still have to transfer over 100GB from my Elite...that would take a [Censored] eternity. Then i would have to go back to trade im my Elite...for cash instead of the trade in price.
I think i might just stick with my Elite until it goes bang and then i have 2 360's to fix myself, then i'll probaly buy the 360 S.
3 xbox 360s....next 3 tv's.
haha i can dream.

oh yeah, alot quieter...you feel alot more heat escaping from it too because of all the vents on the side and the gigantic fan on top of the unit.

Re: Xbox 360 S
Thats the meain reason i want one, my elite sounds like a hoover nowadays. Even with the games installed. My PS3 has always been whisper quiet so I dunno why MS made their really loud.

Re: Xbox 360 S
My 360 is quiet anyway, every single game i play is from the HDD...and my Elite has been on for over 24 hours before and it was still cool...not like my previous xbox which heated my whole room up after 10 mins.
I can safely lay my hand on the rear of my elite without my hand getting hot, whereas my older box would practically burn my hands.
I think you should just put the 360 in the fridge.

Re: Xbox 360 S
my 360 is about a year and a half old and i leave it standing up cause it gets pretty darn hot...though i keep a big oscillating fan next to it in case it does get too warm.
you're right about it heating the room though. esp with the LCD TV...dosent take long to get warm in here.

Re: Xbox 360 S
I moved my xbox on sunday from the centre of my tv unit to on its side in a diffrent shelf and it overheatred instantly. My disc drive also won't open unless its on its side now as well. Just wish I could trade it in and get £100 off the S but I don't want to lose any of my saves and would rather just migrate the data

Re: Xbox 360 S
tbh, i cannot hear my Elite over my TV, so i dont see a reason to pick up a 'Slim'. my Elite is hard-wired into my router (screw the $100 wifi adaptor). And in all those 360Slim commercials="Here Today, Ready For Tomorrow" IMO, if it is still running DVD9 or w.e, its not ready. you still have to buy special specific HDD's to upgrade the Slim (PS3 uses ANY Laptop HDD)

Re: Xbox 360 S
I keep my 360 horizontal and haven't had much problems. I realized that it does overheat (hence me disconnecting throughout the GTC season) but i took a look back there and looked at all my knotted wires and mess. So now I just make sure to keep everything clean and tidy back there and always ventilate. I wouldn't mind having a new 360, but i got a new 20" TV a few months ago so I'm happy enough.

Re: Xbox 360 S
yeah, i mean...dont get me wrong, if you dont have a good reason to upgrade, just keep your regular 360.
the only reason i got the new one was because the girlfriends wii got stolen about a year ago, and the new lego harry potter game came out and she needed something to play that on, while i play forza and stuff upstairs...so i got that and we've both been really happy using it.

Re: Xbox 360 S
Ah good to know I'm not the only one thinking about it then!
I could be being really anal but I'd rather have a gloss black unit that has the same finish as my PS3... though there's nothing really wrong with my current xbox, it is an old unit that doesn't have HDMI-out so i'm going via component at the min. Plus I would appreciate the fact that it's noticably quieter!
That said - I'd rather spend the money on some 7.1 dolby surround headphones in the short term. Troff switched me on to the Turtle Beach ones a while back & have come close to buying them since!

Xbox 360 S, soon to be followed by the 360 RS (for that you actually get less stuff but it's lighter, quicker and proven on the track.)
