lets hope codemasters dont focus on the gymkhana and more on rallying like how Forza focused more on the 'average' gamer, and not the 'core' ones

It looks like they're going to try and use the weather system from F1 2010 and bring it to Dirt 3, or at least from what I've read. So I would think that means more rallying.

With that being said, this or WRC 2010?

Snow? Yes finally!
Also, a game the got the chirping turbo sound right. I love that sound
Gymkhana looks awesome too.
Hopefully they reintroduce crossover/super special stages and hill climbing

seeing as americans probably wont get wrc 2010 ill have to take this. As for if we do get both games, WRC will be more of a straight sim, it will look good and will do exactly what it says on the tin, rallying. I dont see WRC 2010 having more game modes than rally stages, test driving, and possibly super special stages. While dirt 3 wont be as simmy (although the physics model in the last game was good imo,) maybe theyre gonna use a modified version of f12010s physics model. then it could be a really good sim. on top of that, it will have (know codies) like 6 or 7 game modes. and judging from the trailer, as good, if not better graphics, and amazing sound. so unless wrc 2010 is fairly cheap, (or even in america) its gonna be dirt 3 for me

Dirt 3 has the potential to be amazing! Codemasters have stated that they went ''a bit overboard'' with the whole X-Games thing. Alot of things from F1 2010 are being translated across into Dirt 3.

By the looks of that video, we have alot of traditional rallying, some head to head rallycross stuff (always great fun) and also it looks like me may just have a Benchmark A style playground to drive on Smile

I saw it during the rally as well.

I think sticking to wrc/irc and then adding some rallycross + hill climb will make a great game.

Well they arent going to have the WRC liscence as the WRC is comming out with a game of its own so its going to be all rally America and fantasy liveried cars. Although dirt 1 did have real rally stages and locations. Dirt 2, had as far as i could tell, had all like fantasy tracks based on real locations. They kind of over glamorized rallying, if they can stick to their roots and include real rallies, and with the edition of gymkahna they could make a fun game for rally enthusiasts, and the casual ken block fanboy.

I'd be happy with a full Rally America season.

Or better yet... include some famous stages from previous CMR games Smile

Re: Dirt 3

Dirt 1 has really good stages and plenty of cars to play with. Dirt 2 has slightly better physics, better graphics, more fun you could say, but doesn't really have that many rally cars to play with. However when you are pushing really, really, really hard on a stage, Dirt 1 is great fun, very fine line between being very quick and doing a Hirvonen, very immersive in that respect.

Dirt 1 has quite a few classes to play with:
4WD - Peugeot 207 S2000, Fiat Punto S2000, Lancer Evo IX N, Impreza WRX N, Citreon C4 WRC, Peugeot 307CC WRC
2WD - Suzuki Swift, Opel Corsa, Renault Clio, Citreon C2
Classic - Impreza '95, Celica '95, Peugeot 205T16 (Grp B), Lancia Delta S4 (Grp B)

and for non-rally stuff:
Hillclimb - Unlimited (5 cars) and Big Rigs (2 big trucks)
Buggies - Class 1 (2 buggies) and Superbuggy (2 Buggies)
CORR Trucks - Toyota Tundra, Chevy Silverado - Kinda like the Off-Road version of NASCAR
Dakar Raid T1 - 4 or 5 cars
Dakar Raid Trucks - 2 trucks
Rallycross - Supercars (2 cars) and Modifieds (2 Cars)

probably more... plenty to get your teeth into while still having plenty of good rally stages. Lots of Off-Road wheel to wheel racing to play with... oh... and 100 player online.

It also has Rallycross in it, tracks are Croft, Knockhill and Essay in France. Also has the FULL Pikes Peak Hillclimb.

Any bets on the locations in the trailer?

I'm gonna say Kenya > Japan (like CMR3-Dirt style Japan) > Sweden (welcome return) > Spain (like CMR-Dirt style Spain) > Battersea, London

Looks like Morocco (of dirt 2 fame) -> Japan (dirt one fame) -> Either sno* Drift or another early season rally america stage -> Croatia or Spain (both were similar except one was all tarmac and the other was partially gravel) -> London

@ Crisis Get both Very Happy

Dirt 1 was great, but it was too arcadey handling wise. Mazing realistic rally stages and rally cross but didn't handle that well. Dirt 2 is one of the best games I have ever played, even my mates who don't like racing games loved Dirt 2. Yes, its mainly focused on X games and silly gametypes but its a gem of a racer. Physics are still a bit arcadey compared to Forza and GT but it feels like a racing game rather than a driving game.
