This year, for Season 4, iRacing will be releasing it's "Driver Swaps" feature. They've been working on it for endurance races over the last 4 years and they think it's almost ready. Basically, you'll be able to register your team with the drivers you'll race with. You race, once you've completed your stint, you drive into the pits, hit escape and the next driver can hop in almost seamlessly. This will give iRacing's Official Series and Leagues a whole new dimension of racing to play with. Cannot wait for it.

Also, they've been working on the 2013 Holden Red Bull V8SC CotF and reworking the current Ford Falcon to new specs. A Corvette Daytona Prototype has been signed. Donington Park and Phoenix are to be released in Season 3 and they are working on Monza and Imola after that. You can read more about what's new for iRacing on Steve Myers below:

I did the same. Also, thought I'd share a vid that Red Pod shared with us at F4H, awesome move to finish a race at Suzuka.

Finally got my B license. The GT3 series is awesome. Did 20 minutes of practice at brands hatch indy, then a race. That was one of the most fun races ive done until i took out the leader when i spun. But okayama was good to me in the race this morning. Its mind boggling seeing people running 2-3 seconds quicker when my best lap is on the absolute edge and still that far back Sad

I'll be racing the IndyCar Series and the main races are on a Fridays so that's a bad time for me. I think Monday or Tuesday suit best for me.

Re: iRacing

Post by FranchittiFan on Mon 28 Jul 2014 - 23:45

just took part in the very last week 13th race at Laguna Seca which had Mazdas, legends, spec racer ford etc!

Had no testing apart from watching a Empty Box video so chose the spec racer as that's what he used.

Started 34th as I hadn't set a lap, was last after turn 1 as there was a crash it front of me, so slammed on the brakes to miss it!

Then set about learning the car, had LOADS of shakeness coming through the wheel at every turn, really off putting, much like wheel whobble I guess. Anyway I started picking off cars one by one.

Got up to 8th on about lap 9 then had a half spin avoiding a spinning legend, dropped to 10th, only to spin again 2 turns later at turn 1, down changed too quick and locked the rears, but stayed 10th.

Got pushing again and got up to 4th and thought it was 2rd/3rd in front of me but quickly noticed it wasn't when they both rolled bigtime before the left kink, stupid idiots really.

So the last 2 laps set about trying to get 2rd/3rd and was almost with them as I crossed the line, so another lap and I would have been 2nd!

Really chuffed but gutted there was no SR or iRating!

You're lucky. Week 13 is usually considered the worst time of the season for racing. Everyone with a Rookie license competes against A Class guys and it's usually a wreckfest. Nice one though, I been lapping the DW12 around Mid Ohio all week

Well done Chaddy! Can't wait to get back to iRacing so I can give Donington and the DW12 a go. Will have the right licenses for both the oval and road series I think. Will have my B road and C oval anyway.

Re: iRacing

Post by Turbo Power 77 on Tue 29 Jul 2014 - 10:03

Some nice new changes in terms of series for season 3.

Spoiler:
Season 3 is just around the corner and with it come some exciting changes in the form of new and revised official series, along with plenty that’s familiar in many popular series.

One thing hasn’t changed: iRacers from rookies to pros competing in the Season 3 Mazda MX-5 Cup - Fixed series will be looking to follow in Season 2 champion Evan Maillard in earning a spot in the Mazda Shootout this fall. Termed “the biggest prize in club racing,” the Mazda Shootout promotes one talented racer to the professional ranks through a funded drive in the SCCA Pro Racing Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich Tires.

As for the new . . . the Production Car Challenge is back featuring the new Mazda MX5 Roadster and the Pontiac Solstice in a multiclass series at the Rookie license level, while the D license level Grand Touring Cup has added the Ford Mustang FR500S to a lineup that includes the Volkswagen Jetta TDi and the Pontiac Solstice.

There’s plenty new in Class C where the new Mazda MX-5 Cup - Open series will debut with, as the title suggests, open setup Mazda MX-5s. Chassis-tuners will also have the chance to tweak their Cadillac CTS-V and KIA Optimas in the new iRacing.com Gobal Challenge - Open series AND the new Corvette Challenge featuring the Corvette C6.R in short, twenty-five minute races.

Elswhere, the World Sports Car Series moves to Class B with four cars – the Ford GT, HPD-ARX01C, the Riley Daytona Prototype and the RUF C-Spec, while the performance of the cars in the GT Challenge -- the BMW Z4 GT3, McLaren MPC4-12C and the RUF Track has been balanced to insure even closer competition in Season 3.

On the oval side, the Chevrolet Camaro replaces the Chevrolet Impala in the NASCAR iRacing Class B Series while the “new” Phoenix International Raceway (featuring the changes made to the track in 2012) makes its debut.

PIR isn’t all that’s new on the track side of course, as historic Donington Park joins Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park to become the fourth classic British road course available to iRacers.

Last but by no means least, the Dallara DW12 will be featured on the road courses, ovals and speedways of the various IndyCar series.

Of course, there’s plenty that will be familiar about Season 3, from the scores of other official series that go forward unchanged to ongoing, year-long series like the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series, iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series, NASCAR iRacing Series and iRacing Road Warriors Series.

All told, Season 3 has a little – check that – a lot in store for iRacers of every license level on ovals and road courses alike. We can’t wait to get started.
