It does look pretty damn epic. AC2 was one of my favourite PS1 games.

Although I'd love to play something more realistic in terms of flight physics and handling.

You should seriously take a look at Apache Air Assault. It's cheap and cheerful, but it's very, very good. It's £20 in my work (Tesco), and worth every penny.

It's clear the developers were very into the subject matter, and that they wanted to create a game as close to sim as you can get on a console. On the realistic setting, the helicopter behaves the way you'd expect a helicopter to, although there are some concessions to gameplay, like rockets and hellfires that reload after a time limit (although in veteran mode you have to land at a base to rearm and repair).

It is excellent hovering your Apache just behind a hill, marking targets for the hellfires, then popping up, releasing your missile spread, then dropping back out of site while the hellfires do their thing. My favourite mode is the co-op modes though. On local co-op (one Xbox), one player is pilot, one is gunner, and trying to co-ordinate attacks is very fun. The pilot needs to aim the nose of the helicopter when you are using the dumbfire hyrdas, but the gunner has the trigger. Also, the pilot controls all the TADS and FLIR options, but the gunner uses them, so you need to work together. On Live co-op, you control one of a flight of four Apaches, so it's all about setting up firezones and marking targets.

I can't stress enough how good the game is.

I played this last month down in London at an event and it was soooo arcadey, fun, but arcadey. I was utterly disappointed especially after the last game.
