F1 2011™, sequel to BAFTA Award-Winning FORMULA ONE™ video game, confirmed with September 20th ship date

The Official Game of the 2011 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ Coming to HD Consoles and PC in September with New Handheld Platforms to Follow

LOS ANGELES – F1 2011, the sequel to the fastest-selling FORMULA ONE game ever released, will race into stores across North America on September 20th 2011, Codemasters® announced today. F1 2011, the follow up to the BAFTA award-winning F1 2010™, is in development at Codemasters Birmingham for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC Games For Windows®.

Bespoke handheld editions of F1 2011 are also in production for Nintendo 3DS™ and Sony’s next generation portable entertainment system (NGP), each designed to take advantage of the new platforms’ unique capabilities; specific release dates for the handheld editions are to be announced.

In F1 2011 players will be challenged to ‘Be the driver, live the life, go compete’, with wide-ranging technical and gameplay advancements on and off track and vastly extended competitive and co-operative multiplayer components. F1 2011 will feature all of the official teams, drivers and circuits from the highly anticipated 2011 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, including the current FIA FORMULA ONE Drivers’ World Champion Sebastian Vettel. The 2011 season also sees the debut of the 2011 FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX OF INDIA at Delhi’s Jaypee International Race Circuit and the return of the iconic Nürburgring to the calendar.

In production at Codemasters Studios Birmingham, F1 2011 is being developed using the EGO Game Technology Platform, Codemasters’ proprietary tech that powered the critically acclaimed, 2 million-plus selling F1 2010™, GRID and currently driving DiRT 3. Handling on a pad you better save you £ for a wheel lol should be the tag line

A few points I've picked up about this:

- Obviously will include KERS and DRS.
- Includes India, but not necessarily Bahrain, unless it gets confirmed back on the calendar.
- They’ve upped the number of cars in online races to the full 24, with 16 of those able to be human beings, the other eight made up of magic robot cars controlled by the future.
- There’s going to be split-screen multiplayer, the tech for which they’ve borrowed from the DIRT team.
- There will be a co-op career for teammates. So you can have that relationship of support and rivalry while going through the season with a friend on your team.

The cars look more slidey, which is a good thing, because even though I don't drive an F1 car, they are probably a hell of a lot more of a handful than one may think.

played F1 2010 and after 1 season was bored w/ it. cool new features but could have spend alittle time on the graphs though, then again i might be on shift 2 too dayum much

The ''two cups one girl'' achievement on Dirt 2 always cracked me up in a wierd sort of way.

CM are very good with the achievements!

Has anybody heard whether this will have the Formation/Parade laps?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it won't. Devs said something like people would only enjoy that feature for a few races before turning it off for connivence sake.

Aw, thats a shame. That is the one thing I heavily missed in F1 2010. They should still put it in because some people will use it.

Only a small thing but the Safety Car has been confirmed as n F1 2011. Yaaaayyyyy!!!!!
