OnLive

Post by nickyf1 on Mon 26 Sep 2011 - 1:09

You may or may not have heard of this, its a new approach to gaming, called ''cloud gaming''. My mind is blown by this. I'm gonna have to bullet point this down.

- Free sign up
- ANY game will work on PC, Mac, iPad, Android device and TV (with a separate OnLive box and a pad)
- OnLive games can be played on anything, no matter how good the hardware is. I just played a trial of DIRT 3 with no problems on my laptop which overheats if I play Half Life 2 for too long.

Just bloody brilliant.

It does use up quite a bit of bandwidth, so I can really only get on it properly at night. And my internet connection means that I get a few little framerate niggles, as well as a slight lag in controls. Although every now and then, its brilliant, going through Finland in Dirt 3 with perfectly crisp and smooth visuals.

F1 2011 should be up soon too, I really want to have a wee go on that to see what its like.
