Sport!

Post by nickyf1 on Tue 31 Jan 2012 - 18:34

Many of us love a bit of non-motorised sport surely? The London 2012 Olympics and the 2012 European Cup for Football seem to be the highlights.

And in the more near-term, we have a Calcutta Cup clash (Scotland vs England in Rugby Union) to look forward to this week, and of course, on Sunday, it's the Superbowl!

The NFL has caught some of my interest recently, and I'll hopefully be watching the game on Sunday night with a few beers. Just a shame I have Uni to go to in the morning..

I've always been a bit of a fan on Gaelic Football in Ireland, but I hope to catch some more of it this year. The Irish National Football League starts soon, and I'll be supporting Galway as usual.

I've been at this forum for almost four years, and I didn't know you were a Rangers fan!

I am a Celtic fan, but I don't follow Football too closely. I'll be watching the League Cup Final though!

The only real challenge the USA ever gets in one of ''their'' sports is when they play Canada in the Winter Olympics.

I'm really looking forward to the Olympics, some of the Football games will be played here in Glasgow. And then Glasgow has the 2014 Commonwealth Games to look forward to hosting!

I was going to introduce the thread as ''Let's have a look at the sporting season from this sporting year'', but wasn't too sure on the quotes entirely.

With Britain though.. If it's not Football or Rugby Union, the stands will be empty.

The NFL is getting a big following here though. Most of the sports-interested people I know will be going out to sports bars to watch the game. It's just unfortunate that it's on so early on the Monday morning..

With Universities, American Football is one of the more popular and professional looking sports.

I'm getting involved with my University's Gaelic Football team. And for those who don't know what Gaelic Football is:

Which is why Women's Hockey and Women's Softball (trade Japan in for Canada) are the two best sports in the world lol.

I may have noticed before, but I probably just don't remember!

Rangers going into administration would be very bad for Scottish football. They would have to be relegated to a lower division wouldn't they?

No, just deducted points. Given the points difference between Rangers and Celtic and the rest of the league, they'd likely still finish top six.
