2012 Community Steward Team

Post by CQR Rogue on Tue 28 Feb 2012 - 10:42

The Online Racing Association is looking for 5 dedicated members from our community to join and run the steward team for our championships, with 3 stewards on call for each TORA race meeting.

We are looking for dedicated, level headed people, who can make appropriate and unbiased calls on stewards enquires.

Part of the reason we are asking our community for the support is we would like the staff to be taken out of the process and ensure the whole process is transparent to our community.

We will open applications today for the stewarding team, and these will be open for 2 weeks and close on the 13th of March 2012.

Please send applications in a PM to Duncan or Richy.

The staff then will decided upon applications received who will join the stewarding team.

Full details regarding the stewarding penalty system and what to expect from Stewards publications will be released over the next few weeks as well.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.

Can I make a suggestion. That part of the penalty system deal with helping improve offenders. As this is mainly a game and shunning people is not what we are about.

Maybe some sort of Training and relevant test that has to be passed to continue before handing out a suspension or a ban, aimed at helping repeat offenders become better racers and quicker too.

Just a thought, maybe slotted in a level above a suspension and or Ban.

One thing covered in the podcast was the mention of:

What if one of the stewards is involved in a SI?

If one of the stewards are involved in a stewards enquiry they will not be allowed to place judgement on the incident one way or another. This also falls to the category of teammates, and friends.

If you mean myself and Nicky then you simply exclude us from the investigation and leave it to the other 3 stewards, also if you don't think that 3 stewards are enough then ask 1 or 2 members of staff to join the stewards to make a decision??

Cheers guys as well glad to be a part of this Smile

I believe 3 members are enough to make a majority decision on any inquiry. So yea, for example nicky sends Travis into the wall at Sebring, lfcnick and nicky may not be part of the investigation.

Same goes for if Dan were to take someone out in an ISCC round, buckeye bullet may not have his say due to being part of the team in that series.

Even though we're sure that all stewards will make unbias decisions whatever the situation, we have to go this direction to avoid any possible accusations, etc.

Very Happy

Hi all.

Just a quick up date on Stewards Announcements and Decisions relating to submitted and announced SI's.

Please feel free to continue submitting SI's, they are still being received and reviewed.

There has been a lot of work behind the scenes by Staff to bring the rules and regulations of SI's up to TORA standards. There is a pause on announcements and decisions until public version 1 has been concluded.

This will benefit all the community as will provide transparency and instruction for all.

Many thanks for your understanding.

Best wishes,

The Community Stewards Team

Re: 2012 Community Steward Team

Post by CQR Rogue on Wed 4 Apr 2012 - 16:16

Dear all,

Latest Update from the community steward team -

We would like to welcome on-board or latest community steward member Steph aka SuperDuff, Steph has been highly involved with TORA for a good few years now, she is our reasonable adult and I would like to welcome her on board and the fact she has accepted our presidents arm-marriage that is more than enough to welcome her on-board.

Stewards: Conflict of Interest Transparency

What if one of the stewards is involved in a SI?

If one of the stewards are involved in a stewards inquiry they will not be allowed to place judgement on the incident one way or another. This also falls to the category of teammates, and friends.

TORA dictate 3 Stewards are enough to make a decision on any inquiry.

example: nickyf1 sends Gen3ral ts0 into the wall at Sebring, lfcnicklfc and nickyf1 may not be part of the investigation as they are friends. This leaves 4 Stewards of which only 3 are required to make a decision.

example 2: If Dan were to take someone out in an ISCC round, BuckeyeBullet may not be part of the investigation as they are in the same team for that series. This leaves 5 Stewards of which only 3 are required to make a decision.

Even though TORA is sure that all Stewards will make unbias decisions whatever the situation, TORA needs to include fail-safes and procedures to ensure all has been done to give the community transparency and avoid any possible bias, accusations, etc.

guessing that will include clan members?

cos some of our clan members are *bleep* lol, but i would still give them preferential treatment in a SI if i was a race steward

WE're currently running with an incident that falls into this category, and one of the stewards has stepped back out to allow the rest of us to review.

I don't think many of you know me, but I don't race with TORA (or in fact anyone), so have no clan to speak of. I would probably need to step out if there was an incident involving Matt though.
