Picked up new toy this weekend. A 2.0 Zetec Wide Body Westfield.

The car has not been moved for 7 years, so needs a fair few hours to get her back on the road. First job will be to pull the engine and gearbox out, and basically strip it and re-lube it, change gasket, timing chain etc. The engine itself has only done 2,000 miles so hopefully all is ok, but if its not new engines are not expensive.

When the car was on the road it was rolling roaded at 173hp. Not a great deal but then it weighs 550kg. A few modifcations and this figure should rise to the circa 200bhp, which will nearly be 400hp/tonne!

Once its back on the road I will use the car for mainly track use, so a set of slicks and lightweight wheels will be purchased, but thats a long way off!

Anyway a few pics after I picked her up. Getting the car on the transporter was a challenge to say the least, as the car is so bloody low. So plenty of wood and patience and the thing breezed on, with the help of the winch.

That's a beast, it'll fly round a track with its minimal weight!

does it fire up?

if so i would be tempted to just fire it though an mot,,see where u stand and put it on the road for a play ASAP, so you can bond with it a bit. Winter time is for re-builds. You should speak to ranger and dellorto regarding engine rebuilders,,both race in the real world and as such might be able to point you in the right direction.

Car doesn't fire yet Greg.

Will take the lid off and coat in oil and manually turn car over, change timing belt (its been on the car since 1998 but only done 2000 miles) and change head gasket while Im at it. Check plugs etc.

The fuel lines have perished so I will change those. And ill need to drain the tank. Replace all coolants and go from there.

Luckily 2 of my pals run a car servicing garage, so the car will go there so I can work on it. More space, proper tools and expert advice to make sure Im doing it right.

Plan do it as quick as I can time allowing. I could give it to may pals to sort, but I'm looking forward to getting covered in grease and oil!
