24 hours Le Mans 2013 GET TOGETHER Ideas thread

Hi,

Hope you are all well after the last 24hours of fun and mayhem.

I really want to start by saying thanks ;O)

Moving forward, I'd like this thread to be an area to discuss ideas, techniques, and possibilities of next years Le Mans being even more EPIC by actually having a location(s) where we all meet or as many as possible. I will get the ball rolling and see where we end up. Never know, might actually happen!!

So some questions first. If we LAN Xbox's together at a location, can these, with a powerful enough broadband trunk, be connected to Xbox Live as well as each other?

Would we:

A) have LAN locations only, no Xbox live. Locations having to have Staff present and in charge to be verified as a location.

B) have locations that we can also have Xbox Live connections.

First year I see as the dirty cheap bring what you have and run it to prove we can do it and to attract more attention. Anyone who can turn up with sleeping bags, TV's, Xbox's, Wheels, Rigs etc and share until we have enough to cover the people committed to meeting up.

The years after I see as sponsor opportunities with several key areas needing to be supported like:

(Turn 10) Hardware, Xbox's, prizes
(Samsung) TV's
(Wheels) Fanatec
(Virgin) Broadband if we need this and not only LAN locations
(GT Omega) Racing Rigs
(Location Hire) All Sponsors
(Streaming) Dino PC / AverMedia
(PR) Xbox magazine, charity rides, gaming journalists, real drivers, website feeds like TWISR, filming!!

If we run the first year successfully and stream and film it ourselves whilst inviting key people and contacts from the places above to be involved at no cost, then year 2 onwards we can start working together to make it huge and more professional!

Another Idea: Radio Le Mans Paddock at Le Mans - Massive marquee with Xbox's LAN for the 24 hours while there!!

Let you ideas flow chaps. Lets see if we have anything at the end we can actually do ;O)

This is just the sort of thing which I always envisaged as a progression of what we all enjoy doing, racing and socialising.

However, I think everyone would agree that the notion of taking the show 'on the road' would be a logistical nightmare without any sort of financial backing in place... therefore, to cover the costs dare I suggest the idea of introducing an entrance fee in conjunction with the aforementioned sponsorship?

Admittedly I'm ignorant of any legal implications when charging an entrance fee to an event such as this and as such, this idea may not fly.

The only thing I can say for sure is that I myself would be happy to pay for such an event, as for everyone else...

Nice idea. Would certainly bring a new element to the experience.

I agree that it does sound like a bit of a handful to get together, but if it worked could be the spring board to much bigger things.

I tip my hat regardless to your forward thinking. I know I`m a new face round the site but if something comes up that i feel I have the skills to help with I will be happy to do so.

Sorry to have missed this years event but sadly had other plans. Sounds like it was a brill event

You might find a gaming centre that can handle this. When I was at NCsoft, we took over "Omega Sektor" (I believe it's not there any more) in Birmingham for the whole 4-day Easter weekend, and had people sleeping in the centre (some stayed up for the whole 4 days.....like me!

I'm sure there are other places around that could do the same sort of thing. They're usually PC based, but also have console areas, as OS did.

Great idea btw, and fyi, you're more likely to get Panasonic than Samsung, as they have a deal with XBOX.

Do these gaming centres enable lots of external connections so Xbox live could be used by all, as to make this work long term if feel and think it should remain as it was this weekend but with the addition of a location or locations as we are discussing now

If they can handle 200+ pc's playing over the internet as Omega Sektor was my guess is yes.
