which wheel should i get
hey guys, i'm looking into buying a wheel for forza, and my budget is $300 max, but if it's like $315 or so i'll do that.
i've looked at fanatec, and they grouping i was looking at was good, the CSR, with two stick shifts, club pedals (i think) and it was around $300, however they ony deliver to NA and Europe, not down my way.
then there's the only microsoft wheel, which i can get off ebay. but who knows what they've been through.
Madcats is the only one i can buy for xbox in the shops (ie dicksmiths and EB games), but absolutely not, not from what i've heard from you guys and others.
then there's the Ferrari 458 wheel which i looked at, but then that has no force feedback, which is useless IMO, and the F430 wheel is only for PC.
all the logitec wheels are for PS2/3 and PC, and finally the new microsoft speed wheel, but i wouldn't use that because it's basically a steering wheel taken from the wii and put on xbox, rubbish.
so what do you guys think? all feedback would be VERY usefull and appreciated

Re: which wheel should i get
Fanatec has an Australian Webshop that just opened up. I think the first preorders are being delivered.
If I was you I would get the CSR and Clubsport pedals or the Elite pedals. The Clubsports are better. That is the only two pedal kits I would get. If you don't like the CSR get the Porsche GT2 wheel.
Link to your webshop.

Re: which wheel should i get
I have the GT2 currently, and the standard CSR pedals, but I have just ordered a CSR wheel and a set of elite pedals as the GT2 has taken a battering over the last 18 months and is breaking down a bit.
I would say go for the CSR wheel, as there seems to be less problems with fireware issues, plus its basically the same wheel as the GT2 for less cash
Either set of pedals with the brake load sensor will do. The basic CSR pedals are good for the cash, but the difference the cell makes is worth the extra cash.
Glad to see your jumping to the wheel chief,,u will get so much more involvement from your racing with it

Re: which wheel should i get
Wheel wise it has to be Fanatec CSR or CSR Elite on the 360 - even although they have a rough reliability record - because they are actually good. If your on a budget then you'll need to go for the CSR, but take my advice and the advice of the guys above - go for the Elite pedals at least.
I can't do anything about getting wheels at cost or anything as Fanatec only deals through themselves now. No re-sellers.

Re: which wheel should i get
Don't get an Elite. They have a 100% failure rate and just admitted to it.
Re: which wheel should i get
Have they
Just as well i never went for one. I was gonn apush the boat out and give the credit card max power, but bottled it in the end and went for the normal CSR.
Bloody glad now,,lol
Shame though, its a luverly looking wheel. Just wish Fanatec as a whole would focus a bit more on the reliability issues that seem to plague them.
Or, would be nice if say Logitech entered the market for the XBOX,,,maybe the competition would shake em up a bit.

Re: which wheel should i get
I'm on my third Elite, handy that I still have a selection of them left over from Silverstone I couldn't race on anything but the Elite now though after trying a standard CSR.
Re: which wheel should i get
Have to agree with what has been said, I've got the CSR wheel and pedals, and whilst very happy with them (and have had no issues) I am looking to go ahead and buy the Elite pedals to get the load cell brake as it can be difficult with the standard set at times.
The missus has given me the go ahead to get a full rig setup in my man room when we move in 18 months so will be eagerly shopping about looking myself soon enough lol.

Re: which wheel should i get
Ordering some pedals tonight, could somebody tell me what the key differences between the clubsport and the CSR elite pedals are?
if it aint too much I will get the Elite pedals, the main thing is the load cell brake for me, but not sure where/how the clubsport is better?

Re: which wheel should i get
The clubsports are all alloy, and have a hydraulic brake and a degressive clutch pedal, which adds again to the feedback over the elite pedals. Both are fully adjustable and both have the load sensor. Plus the clubsports just look shexy as hell,,lol.
I think there is not a huge amount though in terms of which is best though in the real world. Both are very good and the differences whilst being there dont add up to a huge amount.
But,,thats just my POV,,,

Re: which wheel should i get
so i went on fanatec's site yesterday, and yea, turns out there is an AU one, but the Au to US exchange is like 1.05 US cents/Aus$
however it would be around $300 US for what i'm looking at, for me, with CSR, elite pedals and shifter set: $540...
with a $260 CSR wheel
$200 elite pedals (compared to $100 CSR pedals)
$80 shifter set
WHY DOES EVERYTHING COST SO MUCH HERE!!!

Re: which wheel should i get
Man, Aussie dollars aren't as valuable as I thought!
Is there any 1 unit of currency that is worth more than a quid?

$459 for Elite pedals and a wheel in AUS. That isn't bad and trust me, you won't ever use a shifter. You could wait until they do bundles but it could be a while. Judging by the current rumors I'd hold out anyhow.
