FINALLY got a capture card!
well, HD PVR Gaming Edition from Hauppauge.
It can record up to 1080i
I don't have my xbox with me but I will be tinkering around with it later this weekend. Perhaps record some Horizon business or even.....SuperGT....ISCC....or maybe all of it.
TORA TV guys, could you show me hwo to set it up for streaming, so I could be a backup recorder for Live events or even head a NA commentry team?
Thanks!

Re: FINALLY got a capture card!
Nice, that's what I basically have so I can show you how I do it. I found a YouTube video that was step by step to get me going, will try find it.
Re: FINALLY got a capture card!
Could of things to try, mainly to see how your computer holds up.
1. Record 1 minutes of video at 1080 and see the video size. If your computer can handle it, awesome! If the size is a shock, do 720. Thats my boat and your welcome to join!
2. Record 4 videos, trim them and stitch them together, to see again if your computer holds up. Then save it and see how long it takes. A 25 minute TORA TV video for me takes about 90 minutes to save at 720. (Thats to save it!, its longer to trim and stitch)
Just try these steps to find your limits, then happy video making!
Secondly, live streaming, we obviously use LiveStream, although ustream / twitch apparently is getting alot better. Reason why when I stream it isn't as good as Richys stream, isn't because my connection is not as good, its cause my computer can't handle picking up the video from the xbox, and streaming to the internet at the same time, and the CPU spikes to 100%, freezing the video and I have to lower my stream quality for the computer to handle it.
I recommend you try these experiments a go this weekend and see what you get.

Hauppauge PVR's are great.
I used to have one for a little while before I sold it because it didn't get much use.
Upstream connection bandwith will be the main obstacle when it comes to streaming quality.

I'd like to see what you could come up with for the latest GT rounds, who knows, if they are good enough you could get Louis and Adrian to add their dulcet tones.

One Reason why I bought an HD PVR vs a capture CARD is because I see myself recording to my laptop (brand new Lenovo T520 from my university ) and then using my PC (HP Pavillion p6000 that is 1.5yrs old) to edit and make videos.
So i think both could handle it, but you are right. until I test I won't know
which comes to my next question. What is a good video editiing software I could get my hands on?
Re: FINALLY got a capture card!
I will have to see if I can find that here or at least do the secret thing
The head of Formula Forza uses Sony Vegas Pro 10. He is gonna see if I can get for me. Have you heard anything good about that?

Re: FINALLY got a capture card!
Vegas is good. There is a LOT you can do with it but it is quite expensive.
There are of course ways to get it for free but the less said about them, the better.

Re: FINALLY got a capture card!
thanks Richy!
I guess if I weere to help you guys stream during endurance events, would I need to know the TORALive password and what not?
hehe I just realised that I ACTUALLY got the reg HD PVR, since I didn't get the gaming cord adapter thingie. BUT I still that the appropriate cord from my old 360, so hopefully that works....otherwise back to bestbuy! lol
