Just goes to show just how fast an F1 car is compared to already fast cars!

It would be interesting to see where Indycar would fit on this.

Re: COTA lap times comparison
Note next year LMP cars at time will have between 800 - 1000 BHP when hyrbid systems on full!
If any 1 watched the race yesterday good debate about which is more difficult to drive a lmp and F1 car, bearing mind a LMP1 car has more downforce at le mans than a f1 car has when in high downforce trim (LMP1 weighs a lot more than a f1 car)

And to think, by January, the USCR has to performance balance these two...

Re: COTA lap times comparison
Don't LMP cars use a lot of electronic driver aids? I'm sure I've seen ABS and TCS buttons on an Audi R18 steering wheel. Correct me if I'm wrong.SelectiveRogue wrote:Note next year LMP cars at time will have between 800 - 1000 BHP when hyrbid systems on full!

Re: COTA lap times comparison
Hybrid systems are generally very heavy as well, with batteries and alternators and whatnot. Not sure about torque on a Hyrbid, but the Tesla has potentially infinite torque, and with TCS that would be more of a hinderance I would have thought.
Re: COTA lap times comparison
Definitely, all TCS would do would virtually stall the car out of corners. Annoying.

Re: COTA lap times comparison
Yes Nicky the LMP cars do use aids but this is not due to the car/driver needing them its about developing technology that is then used in everyday road cars ,were F1 cars are fast and nimble they provide nothing for the real world as there counterparts in WEC actually provide much needed improvements like seat belts that were developed for Le Mans.nickyf1 wrote:Don't LMP cars use a lot of electronic driver aids? Re: COTA lap times comparison
They only have TCS, no ABS. The TCS on the Audi must be pretty clever considering there is not spark to cut...
I'd imagine that the ALMS LMP2 and GT could've gone faster if they needed to and/or if track conditions were as good on Saturday as they were on Sunday. The track had been rained out on Friday, and when the WEC got to race on Sunday the track had more rubber down and ambient temperature were not nearly as hot as they were on Saturday.
