It'd be interesting to see if they could get the battery life long enough for some ALMS races.

Its for a future FIA Electric Vehicles Championship.

Something I would love to see.

I think electric powered vehicles and internal combustion powered vehicles should co-exist.. hopefully in a peaceful way Razz

If it has four wheels and a motive power unit (and they keep score?) then its what i'm watching.

I wonder why no one has come up with an electric race car that has a hot swappable battery pack. It seems like that would work pretty well in an endurance race. An EV doesn't have that many moving parts that could break, so it'd probably have pretty good reliability.

Thats pretty much the idea behind the Oreca run proposal for next years Le Mans 56th Entry. Competing with the Delta Wing.

The other proposal is a hydrogen powered electric vehicle.

I wonder if you could rig up a car to all of our xbox's and we could control the car over XBL?

Of course, someone lagging out would probably cause some dangerous accidents!

We could always set it up like a radio-controlled car. We'd just need a really huge aerial on the car to control it from the pit lane! Razz

you'd need HD cameras mounted right where the drivers seat is, and be controlled to move your movements so you can look in the mirrors, flash your lights, etc. etc.

though it seems like they have time on their side, this is still a hell of a commitment. let's hope they come up with something that works and hire the right people to support it and run it.

Thats what invitations are for.

LMP1 will be given priority, so there will be some GT cars pushed off the bench. In the eighties and early nineties, Le Mans was contested by prototypes only. The GT's were brought back in to make the grid bigger in response to the collapse of the WSC, and therefore the collapse of Prototype racing.

I think the top teams may have to cut back to 2 cars per team so that the new teams can race, or they'll give less places to the privateer P1 teams and encourage them to race in LMP2 maybe.

Aston Martin
Audi
BMW
Chevrolet
Ferrari?
Honda?
Jaguar
