It's a shame but rules are rules, you break them you get punished.

This is big business though. No ''sorry miss, can I hand my homework in tomorrow instead because I had a cold'' here.
If one of my uni projects goes tits up because the technician couldn't build me a proper component, it still f*cks up my hand in. Simple as that.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Sucks for Riccardo, but rules are rules.
I was quite impressed with the overall performance by the new and newish kids out there. Riccardo, Magnasson, and Bottas were all great.
Not liking the RBR and MB mentality of "Park the car and conserve the engine" though. I understand the "cost savings" engine limits, but would rather see an unlimited supply of cheaper powerplants than a limited supply of, as they said on TV, "the most expensive power supply ever built".

Formula 1 is about pushing Technology to the limit & the newest Tech is always super expensive though

I know that, its just the race fan side of my brain overrules my tech fan side.
Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I cant believe that Red Bull never listened to the FIA, comes across really big headed by them.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
So what do "the panel" think? Will the dsq be over-turned on appeal or will the Stewards and the FIA win out? Were Red Bull right to carry on regardless and go by their own data or should they have backed off the fuel flow as advised by Race Control which could have meant Magnussen taking 2nd and possibly Button 3rd?

How is F1 about pushing technology to the limit when the teams are all forced to build the exact same cars? I cringe when I hear this claim made on the TV.
Still though, I was very impressed with Kevin Magnusson. He definitely has the sort of humble demeanour that you don't really see these days, as does Valtteri Bottas. Also, interesting bit of trivia, the entire field is now made up of drivers who never raced in the 20th century. Jenson Button's debut was Melbourne 2000.

They should have listened to the FIA, they may not have been as quick but could have still got points. All the other teams listened to the FIA apart from Red Bull. I reckon Torro Rosso would have been in same boat about the fuel yet they got nothing.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Ted Kravitz (aka Lumsden Bumhats) featured on a recent episode of Gareth Jones on Speed in place of the usual Richard Porter (script editor for Top Gear), and it's hillarious.

Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Seems promoters are less than thrilled with rules changes during long term contracts with F1. Interesting.

Red Bull threatening to quit? Talk about throwing your toys out of the pram. Sounds like something Ferrari would do.

Probably the most expensive second placed ever financed by the team since their original second place in Monaco in 1997...
...meanwhile in the world of the humane, the teams are paying their visual tributes, and also going to performing a minutes silence before the Malaysian GP, as thoughts are focused on a missing aeroplane.

So we can now assume Ricciardo has replaced Webber as the unluckiest man in F1?

Was an ok race, wasn't worth me staying up for after nightshift though. So tired tonight
Re: 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I have to agree. After staying up till 5am for Sebring 12 hours I wish I'd just got some extra sleep and watched it back later.

I keep forgetting this place (albeit in it's A1-Ring form) is back on the calendar. Quite a bit of history and with a ten year absense.

Depends, some of the midfield battles are really intense. Particularly with the likes of Bottas & Hulkenberg in decent machinery.

OK... I missed last week's race due to cable failure and a complete lack of replays over the past week.
I do not even know who won.

Lewis won, ahead of Nico & Finger boy.
Ricciardo had his race wrecked by the team again.

And Ricciardo was punished by Red Bull's pit stop c*ck up!Kilroy8 wrote:Lewis won, ahead of Nico & Finger boy.

I have to say it seems Red Bull and Vettel can't take not dominating every race. They need to understand that it doesn't always go the way you want it to. Considering the issues they had in testing they've came a long way. Yet despite this they're considering leaving F1 or changing engine because Renault's isn't good enough. Way to throw your toys out the pram.
