TORA News: July 2014
Hello and welcome! This article is a look back at month of June. June is a special time in motorsport. Our real life counterparts have had it bad this month, 54 hours of racing in 15 days!!. Enough about real life, let’s get on with the virtual world, and all the coming’s and going’s here at TORA.
1st we take a look at the TORA GP Series hosted by XPR Devil. Unfortunately the GP Championship is on a month’s summer holiday, but don’t be sad there is a Mid-season test at the Nurburgring on the 13th July at 6pm BST. After 1 round IRickyTanI is leading the field with 200 points closely followed by BG Wumba and Kilroy8 on 190 and 183 points respectfully. Be sure to take a look at Devil’s hard work.
Staying on the Xbox One, there was another championship that was announced over the last few weeks. The Spec Cup championship will be using the Mazda MX-5 Cup Car upgraded to 420 PI. Be sure to check out the thread
Meeting 1 took place at Catalunya using the National Circuit. a grid of 14 Mazda's took to the track being lead by iteknix of the Kerb Hoppers team. This is the first Spec cup event to include bonus points for qualifying with 3 points for the pole sitter, 2 points for 2nd and 1 point for 3rd, iteknix XPR Devil and XPR Soundwave being the first drivers to score points before even racing. Race 1 was 12 laps race in the order of qualifying. iteknix showed it was not a one off and won the first race Plow Tubbi took the next step on the podium making it a Kerb Hoppers 1-2 and in 3rd was I RickyTan I who did not qualifly and stated at the back of the grid. Race 2 starte din the finishing order of Race 1. Kerb hopper drivers iteknix and PLOW tubbi once again pulled a 1-2 finish but with ONR EagleEye taking the third step. Race 3 tip the field on its head in a reverse grid with AgileAdam leading the way followed by ProRampage302 on the front role along side. But was unable to hold there place at the end with BG Smithy taking the top spot from 6th on the grid, fellow BRE Mazda Motorsport team mate XPR Devil came home in 2nd for a team 1-2 and the finish of the podium iteknix to be the only driver to be on the podium for all three races.
After three races the points all put together its no surpise that iteknix is so far leading with 59 points, 2nd is PLOW tubbi with 46 points, 3rd is I RickyTan I with 44 points. The teams is topped by Kerb Hoppers with 105 points who have a lead of 38 points ahead of BRE Mazda Motorsport who have 67 points.
Whilst on the topic of Spec Cup on Forza 5, may I announce the North American Spec Cup.
Now it’s time to jump back to Forza 4 for this announcement of a new Spec Cup Championship. I can again announce that there will be a 3rd season of Spec Cup on Forza 4. This time it is the turn of the 1965 Ford Mustang. Again the staff are still sorting out the final preparations, but be sure that in the next few days there will be a full announcement.
Now back to Forza 4 we go, but this time to LMR DarthMario’s Tascar Series. LMR DarthMario put together another spectacular show for the Pepsi Max 200 at Sunset Super Speedway. The 1st half of the race passed without incident, many drivers teamed up with other drivers to bump draft due to the high speed banked corners. However the 2nd half of the race was fantastic fun for all involved. It was mainly the last lap where everyone was on the edge of their seats, It ultimately ended with LMR DarthMario winning by a whisker over XPR Soundwave and jgroves1996.
XPR Soundwave leads the championship with 892 points. LMR DarthMario is 2nd with 888 points and XPR ChicaiN in 3rd with 884 points.
The next round heads across the atlantic to the famous Circuit de la Sarthe for the 244k Du Mans on the 12th July at 9:30pm BST
Our next stop is the USGT Championship, and the latest round saw LMR Deftone MX and LMR Bandit in race control at the beautiful Road Atlanta full circuit. Road Atlanta is known for it’s famous downhill esses and power sapping back straight.
After 2 races LMR Deftone MX took the win, followed closely home by The Bulin Wall5 and aTasteyNip in 3rd. LMR Deftone MX leads the championship with 1197 points followed by IBlueJaBBERexI with 1115 points and in 3rd is Dave sp2 with 1093 points. The next stop on the calendar is Sedona Raceway Park on the 24th July at 8pm BST
For our next stop we look at the recent 24 Heures Du Mans, and 1st before I say anything about the race, may I please lead the community in thanking HCR Mad Dog for his fantastic efforts keeping this fantastic show on the road, giving up all of his sleep to keep the show on the road...
THANK-YOU HAYDEN!!
I will keep this summery short as I know there is an article or 2 being worked on behind the scenes. After a chaos filled 24 hours the HCR Scuderia team took the overall honours with Barry Scott Racing – Turbo Power and FailRace Endurance in 3rd.
In GTE LMR Red Dragon took the GTE honours with Folstak Racing finishing 2nd and Mushroom Kingdom Racing taking the final step on the GTE Poduim. Be sure to keep an eye out for the in depth review of the 4th Annual TORA 24 Heures Du Mans in the next few days.
As we are all aware the TCC Season 9 was anoounced a few weeks ago. A few days before the writing of this news article the registration was opened, and as expected the entry’s came flooding in.
From what I can see in the early signs of the entry’s just like previous season’s, this season of the TORA Touring Cars will be as popular as ever. I know from testing and talking to a few people that there is an excitement in the air for this season.
There will be a media day on the 22nd July, so get in your cars and don’t be afraid to come along and enjoy some door to door driving with some of your friends or people you expect to battle for the season.
Staying on the Touring Car subject, there is some news for the American’s. The NATCC will be coming back for another series, at this moment the staff are currently sorting out some things behind the scenes, so again please bear with them, they have a lot going on at the minute. But be sure to keep your eyes on the forums in the coming weeks.
Time again for another announcement, Standaman is hosting a 3 Round series of.... Demolition Derby on Grid: Autosport, with some fantastic prizes. The winner win get their hands on a Grid: Autosport Season Pass and I have been told that there are other prizes from Codemasters will be on offer, again keep your eyes out on the forums.
And I have saved the best for last. The photo competition for members on Forza 5. So you budding photographers get your camara’s out for this one, because the is a big prize up for grabs....
The theme that has been set for this month is ‘Submit a photo from a TORA event to be used as the background image on the new TORA website’
Other prizes up for grabs are:
1st Place – July Hot Wheels DLC Car Pack
2nd Place – 750.000 cr
3rd Place – 250.000 cr
All prizes are courtesy of Turn 10
I told you it was a big prize this month! You have till the 20th July to submt your pictures... I know I will
Also announced at the time of writing is that XPR Devil has been promoted to Staff to help push racing through on Forza 5.. Congratulations
Deano!! You earned it mate, and Im sure that you will be a massive credit to everyone that race on Forza 5.
That concludes the round up of all the news this past month. I would like to thank the Staff and the Media team for giving me the opportunity to be apart of this great team, and making me feel welcome.
See you all next month and Keep on racing

Good job.
Only thing I would say is to perhaps link the Series Banners into the forums section for that series.
