TORA News - March Update
TORA HQ
March Update.
The real racing season is very much upon us now and with Formula 1, Moto GP, SBK and later BTCC all kicking off this month there's a lot to look forward to trackside.
Similarly at TORA we are clicking up a gear with some exciting championships set to start and some amazing new series on the near horizon.
March will be the last month TORA operates solely with the Forza Motorsport franchise. The exciting truth is that with Project CARS coming on April 2nd and untold quality titles
due to arrive from Codemasters, the likelihood is that there will be more choice and more opportunity for every member of the TORA Community.
So let's look at some highlights for this month;
Rogue Motorsport Cup.
This fantastic series in partnership with Toyota specialists Rogue Motorsport enters it's final phase in March and it's still all to play for.
There's no doubt that CQR has stolen the march on the field in both the MR2 and GT86-F classes but there's still time for drivers to spring a few surprises.
Cyber Racing's ATR Dan is very much in the Driver's title fight and is currently only a handful of points behind CQR NEON and the battle for second in the GT86 class is tight between RaceArt Competition and Cyber Racing.
In the MR2s, CQR enjoy a comfortable gap to the TORA Rogue Motorsport entry with Outlaw Racing a further nine points back in third place.
CQR Takumi leads the way in the Drivers chase with the privateer entry of BG Wingnut396 in second place and only twenty points off the lead.
After round 5 from Spa on March 8th the Rogue Motorsport Cup makes it's final stop at Road Atlanta for the closing races on March 22nd.
Maximum Group VAG Trophy
Our second real world tie in sees the excellent VAG Trophy join forces with TORA to offer the winner of Class A a test drive in a real car. That's some prize!
The championship will run for six rounds between March and April and include a wide range of cars from the VAG stable. Even at this early stage there are ten cars signed up for the
series with more promised for both classes. Oh and did we mention full coverage on Motors TV? This is definitely one to get involved with.
For our friends across the pond there will be a version of the series running to US time though not with the same top prize at this stage.
TORA World GT
For those not able to take advantage of the Next Gen GT offerings soon to be announced, the ever popular TORA World GT makes its return for a six round series culminating in a 90 minute enduro at the challenging Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan.
A vast array of racing machinery is available for this championship including rare appearances from Mosler and the Panoz Abruzzi which will be added to the traditional TORA mix of popular GT2 and GT3 entries. The formula is tried and tested and always results in excellent racing throughout the field. We anticipate this championship being no different.
Pro GT Road America 1,000
This stand alone event follows the same format used in the Pro GT Championship with a slightly modified car spec purposely built for Road America. Registration has seen the return of the top 3 championship finishing teams (LMR, LRT, HCR) as well as a fleet of entries keen to show them how its done! This event is set to take place on Saturday, March 28th from 4PM - 12M GMT. For more information, visit the Pro GT section located in the Forza Motorsport 5 pit lane.
TORA IndyCar
TORA's first real foray into US based racing has gone very well so far and as the championship reaches its mid-point at Laguna Seca.
Team GearHead Prime leads the way with XPR and Griptek Performance hot on their heels going into the second half of the season.
In the drivers title battle it's tight at the top with ten points separating Rickytan and TLR Gearhead V with XPR Gillard not much further back in 3rd place.
The season culminates with the Indy 500 in May. There's not that long left for the big players to really make their mark on the championship.
Don't forget we have TORA Radio tonight! Be sure to chip in from 1030pm GMT and share your views on the racing action at TORA and any of the other topics we cover!
There's some really exciting championship news due in the coming weeks so keep your ears open and your eyes glued to our social media channels and of course, the Community Forums.
