TORA ASCC - Round 3 Driver's Briefing & Track Limits Laguna10
Round 3 - Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Welcome to Round 3 of the American Sports Car Championship Season 2.   Our next race is not at the Rio Mountain Coast Reserve Circuit as announced as an April Fool's joke yesterday.  This week we are indeed going to the Californian Monterrey Peninsula to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, home to the infamous corner called "The Corkscrew."  The track's origins lie in the need for a safer, more permanent place for racing that took place on public roads in Pebble Beach, CA during the 1950's.  Since then, Laguna Seca has hosted many different types of racing including IndyCars, Trans-Am, and Pirelli World Challenge.

Qualifying - Qualifying will take place 1-hour prior to race start time (2:00 pm EDT/7:00 pm BST).  Drivers will have 15 minutes to set their fastest, clean lap. Remember that drivers should be/appear online 15 minutes prior to qualifying start, and should keep in-lobby chat to a minimal.

Race - The race will be a timed race lasting 90 minutes.  The lobby will be set to 1hr 40 minutes to allow time for drivers to finish the race and collect times.  A change this year is that the race time will include the pace lap, so drivers are asked to get into their grid positions as quickly as possible.  When 90 minutes has passed, drivers will continue to race until they race the start finish line.  Drivers will then line in in finishing order in Turn 1.

Pit Stops - There will be 2 mandatory stops for GT and 3 mandatory stops for DP.

If anyone has further questions, please post them in this thread.  Good luck, and I will see you all on track.

TORA ASCC - Round 3 Driver's Briefing & Track Limits Empty Track Limits

Post by BigBen13x Tue 3 Apr 2018 - 1:07

For this track, drivers are reminded that the TORA standard is that two wheels MUST remain on track at all times, designated by the lines on the outside of the track.  There are two corners on the track that I would like to highlight to remind everyone what is not acceptable.

Entry into the Andretti Hairpin: When coming down to the Andretti Hairpin, drivers are reminded they must follow the TORA standard of track limits and not run wide while entering the corner.  See the picture below to see what is unacceptable.

Corkscrew:  Coming down the Corkscrew, drivers are reminded they must follow the TORA standard of track limits and not go off the track coming down the hill.  See the picture below to see what is unacceptable.
