Yeah!
I saw Alonso crashed at the start, but at least he was able to make up some lost time and get within a second of Brawn GP this time

Re: Formula 1
that'll be good so long as the FIA show a little consistency, will be good to see a proper tustle at the end of a race too - rather than teams playing for points. I'd imagine the manufacturers title will be decided by points though?

Re: Formula 1
Yeah, the constructors championship is unaffected. Might work out well, but I was just surpised that they decided it now...with less than 2 weeks before the 1st race
Re: Formula 1
they've probably done it to encourage overtaking, which would be nice to see more of. you're right though - it's an odd time to announce it.

Re: Formula 1
bad idea especially with a few drivers who are really risky on their overtakes and team work is now going to be even more important

Re: Formula 1
Personally i am disgusted with todays proposal, the F1 points format (and that for the majority of all motorsport) works perfectly fine, its a tried and tested method. If somethings not broken why fix it! It leaves little or no benefit for coming anywhere other than first. Furthermore the 'old' system allowed teams like BMW and renault to challenge for the drivers title on consistent seconds and thirds. Now the teams in that category this season have no chance. Its all biased towards ferrari and the other top team (this year) AGAIN!
What are they playing at!

Re: Formula 1
right...
Bernie must go. He IS RUINING F1 for the AVERAGE JOE, who probably doesnt care about points or statistics or whatever, they just watch for the race, or mabey watch the last race of the championship.
Never again will we have a last race championship decider, unless two drivers have identical numbers of wins.
Time for the DWARF and his money (credit cru... what?) to go somwehere else, and he can bring his spank buddy Max with him.
And isnt there a thing called FOTA?

Re: Formula 1
And imagine this 'Abu Dubai GP'. A sh*t track with a championship thats already decided, and there isnt even a drivers championship any more, the other drivers wont be in any sort of position, and cant aim to beat other drivers etc.
I think that Bernie is trying to ruin F1 before F1 ruins him IMO. I mean, theres no chance Donnington will be ready, hes proposed a 'PARK AND RIDE PARKING SYSTEM' that will be a fail, hes investing money on sh*t tracks in the middle of deserts. I hate F1, but as soon as it comes to the start on the Sunday, I love it. And now bernie is ruining sundays..

Re: Formula 1
Final day of testing.
Heikki and Nakajima on the track today....
The McLaren is COVERED in Flo-Vis again, they've introduced a new bridge wing above the diffuser and POSSIBLE new diffuser too. Not sure.
Either way they're still struggling but hey least they can top the times today
Heikki fastest with a 1.19.573
Remember the fastest time is Button's 1.17.8 yesterday

Re: Formula 1
certainly should be an interesting weekend in melbourne. i wonder if mr bourdais is going to surprise us all and show us some 'slick' skills, he was multiple time champ car winner after all. was kept very quiet last year though.

Re: Formula 1
You watch...the drivers championship will go to someone who isn't driving a red car. Kimi or Massa will get on the podium each race but only win one or two races and we'll be back to the points system again. I don't understand why they don't just double the points for winning or something.
The timing of it is the worst thing. When Bernie brought up the gold medals system for the first time it was poo pooed by pretty much everyone. Now this is dropped in two weeks before the season starts leaving little time for anyone to do anything about it at whats got to be the busiest time of the year for the teams.
