Quakerstate post race analysis
Great results for Quakerstate at Road Atlanta
Quakerstate racing are celebrating what was described as a ‘superb’ full debut meeting.
‘This is exactly where we wanted to be after the time and effort the team as a whole has put in prior to this race meeting. All of the signs were there during the period of testing leading up to the races, so for us to get the points haul, we felt it was well deserved’
-Words from the incredibly pleased team manager Evothreesixty.
Qualifying panned out slightly different from what the form book had predicted with team boss Evothreesixty leading the way for the newly formed team. Next to join Evo in lobby ‘B’ was Streetf1ghter80. Dave Percival put in a solid debut qualigying session to put himself in a commanding position in lobby ‘C’.
‘ Just like Streetf1ghter in his first meeting, nerves seemed to get the better of me during what felt like quite a quick session. I was disappointed with my speed as testing proved to be a lot quicker. I was non the less glad to be put into lobby ‘C’ as I felt over race distance I would be able to grab a few podiums’- Dave Percivals thoughts after qualification.
The race results echoed almost precisely what Dave predicted, with a fourth a second and a third in each race respectively. So a great haul of points for the rookie racer in his first meeting. Dave had this to say after race three- ‘ I am absolutely ecstatic at what I and the team have achieved over the last few weeks. Coming to a brand new team after being a number one driver in other race series in the past was always going to be a gamble to some degree, although I knew the wealth of knowledge that runs though the team, none of them had worked together. I looks like that gamble has well and truly paid off!’
Lobby two proved to have mixed fortunes for the team in all three races. ‘ I felt a little out of my depth in lobby ‘B’after putting in quite a reasonable qualifying time. Some of the drivers were quite clearly much faster than myself! But it was nice to see the other Quakerstate blazing a trail for me and some of the other cars! I was pleased with my overall race pace with just some early mistakes and hesitancy which cost me.’ – Evothreesixty reflecting on his race performance. Evothreesixty finished in sixth, fifth and seventh in each respective race. ‘ What a meeting I and the team have had!’ laughs Streetf1ghter80. ‘ I was always confident in the car and myself so all that I was hoping for were good clean starts which thankfully I got. From there on I was tangling with very experienced and very capable drivers, I loved every second of it. What I can’t get over is the amount of progress we have made with the car over the last couple of weeks'. Streetf1ghther80 acheived awsome finishes, third and third and a fourth.
So, a great first full meeting for the Quakerstate crew, going from strength to strength in the Vauxhall Astra VXR. There are talks of a surprise appearance in the upcoming Lotus endurance challenge this week, ‘ If we can secure the backing of our usual sponsors Quakerstate for this one off event then we hope to enter at least one car into what could be a very effective marketing and testing tool for the team. We are already looking into various race series to possibly enter next year, this event could help the team decide what direction to go in’ says team manager Evothreesixty.
Good luck to Quakerstate in their next meeting.
