Re: My other car is a.....!!!
I have a 1988 Mustang Gt with fully done custom exhaust loud as can be not much done to the engine just got it in October its a project. Then I normally drive a 98 Honda Civic Coupe 4 into 1 Headers leading into essentially a resonator no muffler or cats and a 5 inch wide DC Sport Muffler has a simple five speed and is fun not very impressive but they are my cars.

Re: My other car is a.....!!!
Its toyed with. Fully built motor, slightly upgraded turbo, AEM EMS, whole lot of other stuff. Should be in the high 300's hp mark. Was gonna go full power for a drag car but decided to set it up for a track day car so suspension and brakes are next on the list.

I'll try to remember to post pics later on.
She passed away last winter. Had what could be called a coronary failure. Needed a heart transplant, and since I couldn't afford the operation, I had to let her go. Still makes the wife cry when we speak of her.
Ended up with a 1996 Toyota Steamy Pile of Sedan. Seriously, most every panel has either a dent, scrape or ding, and the interior smalls like a mix of used motor oil and body odor... like the previous owner worked at an auto scrap yard and could not afford either soap or deodorant.
Now that my busy time of year is here, I've been looking for my next car. I am negotiating a deal on a 1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Black on black, with a 2300 I4t and 5spd manual. The motor has been rebuilt, with less than 1000 miles on the rebuild. And it has been internally modded, about 300 Hp, but is still stock on the outside.
This is much what she'd look like after a bath...

Standaman94 wrote:In Feb I bought a mint '94 Peugeot 106 Rallye S1, which I currently use as my runner and I'm trying to restore it. It's a fantastic little thing!
If you don't know what it is already, here's the lowdown:
One of the rarest Peugeot models produced, behind the 205 and 405 T16s, the 205 Rallye and the later 106 Rallye S2. Less than 1000 were imported into the UK, less than 800 remain. A perfect condition example can go for about £3000 these days.
Like the previous 205 Rallye, it was built to allow the 106 to be homologated into Group A and N rallies. It is completely stripped down to the bare minimums; no airbags, no power steering, no sound proofing, no cigarette lighter, nothing. It also has an uprated 1.3 fuel injected engine, the most powerful engine on a 106 at the time, meaning that it had, and still has, the best power-to-weight ratio on a 106.
The engine is the rare eight valve TU2J2, which was only produced for this very model, and is often replaced with a 16 valve engine from the more common 106 GTI, meaning that if you still have the original engine it's going to be worth a bit more. The Rallye is often lowered and had the rims changed and all of that silly stuff too.
All of that makes for a very spunky, very fun car. The super low weight means that you can throw it around and it wheelspins very easily! No drifting though, it's still FWD at the end of the day.
The only bad thing I can find about it is that it's French, thus an utter pain to maintain and the driving position is a bit weird. It's also in major need of an engine refurb as it uses more oil than petrol...
I'd post a pic but I actually haven't taken any of it yet. It's all dirty from it's trip to the Sahara recently... While staying at home. But it looks like this:
Ahhh that looks so cool!

It looks alright when it's clean, when it's dirty those white steelies turn a manky grey Just as an indication of it's value/collectibility, I just bought the original sales brochure for £30... For a four page 20x20cm book.

90s French hatchbacks are a real car-turn-on for me. Not sure why. I think it has something to do with the 306 Maxi...

Re: My other car is a.....!!!
That Beemer looks nice Here's my car. Bought for £250 and it's almost in perfect working order... Well it was when I got it last year. Just needed the mould taken out, sunroof sealent fixed, new brake discs, new headlight clusters as the were both cracked and the handbrake cable needed tightening. Now the mould has been dealt with, the sunroof has been fixed and it has new headlights, but that's it... Poor thing now has flat tyres and the tyres have BIG cracks all over the sidewalls too. The rear view has fallen off and won't go back on, the battery is dead and the alternator might not be working either... Oh and looking through my MOT history, by brake lines are corroding as well... It was all so promising to begin with. Skoda is my mum's car. That is dying too lol. Cuts out and dies completely if it has LESS than 25% fuel in it.

My first car, a 1988 Pontiac Bonneville, had corroded battery cables that would short circuit the car and shut it off at random, usually at highway speeds (no brakes, no steering, fun times!). It had no paint (GM in the 1980's used paint that fell off cars), so I told people I drove my car into a burning building to save children from the fire. The drivers seat was taken from an Oldsmobile after the original seat broke. The air conditioning didn't work and the windows wouldn't open... but occasionally the window seal would collapse and the window would slam down inside the door, scaring the life out of anyone and everyone in the car when it happened. The radio was installed wrong, so it would stay on and playing even after you turned the keys off and took them out of the ignition, so I had to remove the stereo every time I parked. The o2 sensor failed, it had been installed in the exhaust pipe after the headers, so I took it out and it sounded like a race car since the exhaust no longer went through the cat or muffler. Oh, one last thing, the gas gauge didn't work, so I just had to guess when it was time to get gas (only ran out once!).
My family owned that car from the day it was brand new in 1988 until it was given to me (in the state described above) in the year 2000. I drove it for 1 year then sold it for a car that looked nicer (had paint and matching seats!) but couldn't stop blowing up it's transmission (1995 Dodge Spirit, Mitsubishi motor, Chrysler transmission FTL) ... after it's 2nd transmission rebuild, I sold it with 190,000 miles and drove a free minivan for a year.. then I bought my first new car, a 2003 Ford Focus ZX3 with 4 miles on it... installed eibach sportline springs & dampers, loved and drove the hell out of that car for 5 years.. traded it in with 99,990 miles and bought a new 2008 Ford Mustang. Drove the Mustang for 4 years and traded it in for the Bimmer... I've been in the BMW for 4 years now and the itch for something new is strong lol

Re: My other car is a.....!!!
Nice cars lads!
Was looking into the WRX STi myself, but it's a killer on the insurance. I'm away for half the year so should be able to save £6k-£7k which is a healthy deposit on some new wheels.
Drove a pals S line TT a few times, it's remapped too and has some serious power on it, and it has the S Tronic gearbox. Thinking it may be time for me to go for my first Audi, an S3 was very kind on insurance too

Re: My other car is a.....!!!
This is my current car:
2012 VW Mk6 GTI 2 Door, with the DSG. Lovely little thing. I did about 6 months worth of research on new cars and decided to go this route over a Fiesta ST or a Mini Cooper S. I got the car in January and I've had no regrets so far. Picked up a set of steel wheels and studded snows to trek around in the wintertime.
I keep getting the urge to put go-fast parts in it, but my wallet so far has said no. This is the first car I have bought and insured on my own.
This is me getting artsy:
My previous rides were SAAB's- a 1999 9-5 SE, and a 2006 9-3. Great cars, but I just wanted something a bit different. The 9-5 I had for a couple years when I first got my license and I sold it for what I bought it for 2 years later. The 9-3 I got in the summer of 2010 and it was a great car, hardly any issues with it.
