Gashi, Xbox Live is bad tonight in general, the release of the Modern Warfare 2 map pack is out and it seems every man and his dog is on it - other than us - and the Live infrastructure is struggling. It's not your fault.

Re: TCM Meeting 5 Discussion Thread – La Sarthe (Bugatti Circuit)
I also have something to say about the lag. I started to get pretty tired of hardly 10 seconds or so going by without the lag or my name being mentioned, often in the same sentence. In the end I just didn't bother saying anything, as I figured there was no point.
I did everything I could to make sure I didn't cause as much lag. I switched both my phone and my laptop off so there was no interference with the wifi or the connection. But, my mum does use her laptop pretty much every night and I can't just say to her "switch it off, I'm playing on the 360 and I don't want lag" because she just wouldn't do it, I know she won't.
I even said to the guys in Lobby A before the race started "If there's any lag, I'll apologise in advance now." I'm sorry for those people's races that I effectively ruined, but I couldn't do anything else about it. If people in Lobby A want to make stewards enquiries against me, go ahead. To be fair I've been through a lot of hassle just to get to the point where I can actually get into the damn lobby for the race, and still my participation is tainted with more problems, just when I thought they were all sorted.
Sorry to sound like I'm moaning but I'm just sick and tired of not being able to do one race event here without something going wrong as a consequence of my actions.

Apologies for the accident with britracer. 'Overexuberant driving' was the cause.
Least I waited!
Loooong race tonight after lag bomb in Race 2 from Chucky ended that chance. Still, thats racing. See you all in Mugello

Unlucky woodwiss and Gashi. I know it can be frustrating for you both, especially as how much work you have both done to get in to the lobbies and prepare your cars. All I can say is, good luck with sorting out your connection and as stated above, it seemed to be a laggy night in general, therefore exaggerating the lag between the UK and the US. Hope you both get it sorted out, as you are both fast drivers.

Maybe those wins will convince him to stick around more
Re: TCM Meeting 5 Discussion Thread – La Sarthe (Bugatti Circuit)
I echo that sentiment, Chillz. Guys, tempers were frayed tonight due to the excessive lag. While it is the responsability of all members to ensure their own connection is as lag-free as possible, when situations arise like the one that has tainted the racing tonight due to an outside source - ie all the sheep that were suckered in by Activision to pay over the odds for some maps instead of spending their money wisely on Bad Company 2 - then there is little we can do.
Frustrations with lag aside, and that was lag that affected all the lobbies, hopefully next race Live will have settled down and be more accomodating. Don't give up just yet! ;-)

Seconded Scot.
Unfortunalty due o the unique way TORA isn't funded we don't have our own servers. If we did it would never happen and if it did the person responsible would be fired, re-hired then fired again!

To be honest, it has made me think a lot about returning for good. But if I did, it would be in a limited amount of events. Trying to get organised for all the championships every week really does make you really tired. Thats what affected me most of all. But thanks for the congrats. It was nice to come back in style.
I think the events need sorting out because I don't know what the rest of you guys think but I think it's just too much to cope with all of these different events every week. Its ok if you're in a team like WWR for example where they've got more than one driver, but it doesn't work realistly.

Re: TCM Meeting 5 Discussion Thread – La Sarthe (Bugatti Circuit)
Right, I heard the opinions and just viewing the replays from A lobby, and I feel that some comments are totally not justified. The problem he had was with lag, which has its reasons for being present. We've all had lag at some point in racing so it can't be helped.
Watching his racecraft I feel frustrated for him. He did quite a bit of testing and practice for the event, and because of it he qualified second. He had been looking forward to the event for quite a while, and was really pumped to hear he was second on the grid. To find that the race would be plagued with connection issues can only cause a headache for him. He took every chance to keep well away from people and eased off and gave people plenty of room, whilst still attempted a half decent result. Both I and he knows he couldve gone much faster but hanged back to prevent hitting people with lag.
I do feel that some who may have had a go should actually apologise to him. From what I know he had no issues during practicing, no problems during qually so he was not to know that there would be an issue in the race. I feel this issue should be forgotten and allowed a second chance. You cant judge a persons character and racing ability by his internet connection.

Also, I have to say a few people were out of order in A Lobby tonight. Yes, lag can be the most annoying thing ever, but have some respect for the guys it's happening to. They do not enjoy lag either. The bitching and swearing at each other was not necessary and not enjoyable for me and I ended up focusing on what was being said rather than chasing down Dan. Anyway, looking forward to the next round at Mugello.

Re: TCM Meeting 5 Discussion Thread – La Sarthe (Bugatti Circuit)
@Dan - I only race in 5 events (LMS, CER, GT3, Mini's, TCM). Tuesdays and Sundays. I prepare and tune car Wednesday morning for Sunday race and then prepare and tune car Monday morning for Tuesday evening race. Job done. So, I have to disagree with you, when you say there are too many events. I think it is well balanced. Also WWR only has 2 drivers present, me and Aero. I do all the tuning and building, he paints, does the press releases and keeps the team organised.
Just try to organise your tuning better. I hardly change the tune much between races, so it's just a case of running a few laps just to get used to the car and track.

Re: TCM Meeting 5 Discussion Thread – La Sarthe (Bugatti Circuit)
I'm just chatting with biggs now and I've said to him that with all the abuse and accusation hurled at me, I am literally this close to quitting TORA.
I have already apologised and did so in advance before the first race even began. Yet still I have people hoping they never see me around here again because of an issue I've apparently caused, when in fact I had nothing to do with and did everything I possibly could to avoid it. All this and it's only my first full event that I've managed to do. And I get all this thrown at me.
Thanks a lot, guys. You really know how to make someone feel welcome here.

Re: TCM Meeting 5 Discussion Thread – La Sarthe (Bugatti Circuit)
Sorry we're frustrated and harsh on you, but apologising in advance is like saying "I know I'm going to ruin your race, sorry, but I'm still going to do it."
What might have at least helped your cause a little, would have been apologising AFTER hitting someone, instead of staying silent and instantly quitting. Doing that comes across as you not caring that you've just ruined someones race, in Ian's case, a 2nd place in what is generally regarded as the weakest car in the field.

Re: TCM Meeting 5 Discussion Thread – La Sarthe (Bugatti Circuit)
Try not to accuse everyone in TORA woodwiss. I think you will find I said nothing and if you read my above posts, I would say I was sympathetic towards you and Gashi. So, be careful what you say, and good luck in the upcoming rounds. Hope you can get it sorted. We can run a few laps if you want to see if you lag or not. Just invite me if you see me online.

Its a little hard to apologise for hitting someone from lag, when on their end, they didn't hit them and were nowhere near them. That's the nature of lag, you don't even know you've done it. He only knew about it when someone starts swearing their ass off at them, which is something that's difficult to apologise for, especially when you cant get a word in edgeways.
Re: TCM Meeting 5 Discussion Thread – La Sarthe (Bugatti Circuit)
May I also comment that luckily the comments made in lobby A haven't yet made woodwiss quit TORA, but from the looks of things Gashi has. I don't know what things were said in that lobby, but I find it depressing that they were so bad it caused one to leave and one to think about leaving, from issues that weren't even their fault.

Clearly, as nobody was swearing their ass off at anybody, just venting frustrations, not swearing. I think I may have been the most vocal, and for that I can only apologise - you all know what I'm like - get stroppy fast and cool down just as fast after, i.e. if you let it blow over it will. I think it's time for everyone to group hug and move on.

Re: TCM Meeting 5 Discussion Thread – La Sarthe (Bugatti Circuit)
My view is that if your lag is that bad....don't race.
It only wrecks it for other people who do have good connection.
I am pissed off as there wasn't even an apology for destroying my race and loosing me vital points for the championship.....and yes its not good enough to say at the start of the race.....If I take you out.......sorry.
E.g. In real life if your car has a oil leak your black flagged as you are causing a problem for other competitors and could cause them to crash etc....
Lag is the same.....if you no it was that bad then don't start the event until it is fixed.
And on the gashi subject I felt his treatment was very unfair on the abuse he good........all I will say is it seems to be a trend from the same "Official".
