Representing Faux-tus as if they are the real lotus, I look down on him much like I look down on Jean Alesi and the Fat Ferrari Mechanic from 2008 who was the rep for the Massa Family.
Whores.
Cant wait for montreal when the JPS Lotus paradox kicks in.

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
Did everybody use soft tires in practice 2? I fell asleep at towards the end of P1 and they were doing 1:18's on primes. The track record is only about 7 tenths faster than what Alonso did in P2 so they were pushing pretty hard I would imagine.

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
I fell asleep about 5 minutes into FP1 so I missed both practice sessions and I cannot find them anywhere online to watch them.
But how did Pirelli get their estimates for the super soft so wrong? Apparently they're lasting for way more than 10 laps.
Also glad to see Lotus (Team) won their case against Lotus (Group) over who gets to be Lotus. Although, as far as I can tell, the judge ruled that Lotus and Lotus can both be Lotus, so it really didn't solve anything.

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
Ok that was a heavy impact! Personally I think they should do something about the bumpers there!
Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
As a Lewis fan, is it just me that thinks something always (censored) him up when he is looking good for pole? So unlucky.

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
That's two accidents today that are very much like Jenson's in 2003. Very scary. Nico's this morning was probably at a higher speed but he of course missed the barrier....just. As he was in the air at the time (launched off the kerbing) it would have been a very hefty impact if he had have hit the barrier.
Hope Sergio is ok though.

When I saw him in the car, not moving, I immediately thought it was a fatal accident.
Looks like the HANS device has done its job well again.

Good to hear he is ok but what an idiot...He shouldn't be that far off the line anyway. Such a noobie mistake, maybe he was looking for some grass to cut.

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
He was wide in the tunnel anyway so came out on the line he was on due to getting dirty tyres. He knew he was wide so tryed to get back on the braking line but f1 cars dont like been throwen around like a gp2 car so it was always going to get unsettled, even without that bump.

Gonna be another crappy boring normal race...
Prediction:

Suprise: The only suprise available is if Vettel comes any lower than 1st...
What I would love to see: Vettel in a wall

lol wut?
The tunnel is flat out easy, it straightens out before it gets to that bump so he had plenty of time to get across.

The hans would only help in a head on accident. It doesnt help on a side on! I have found this out the hard way!
Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
The Perez accident is probably the worst accident I've seen live (I know that isn't saying much, but still). I had recently seen the video of Senna at Imola '94 and my mind immediately went to that after Perez's crash.
It was a very sobering moment for me.

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
Anybody know what's inside those Tech-Pro (sp?) barriers? They look like they are just made out of plastic, but either Brundle or DC said they are full of something to absorb the energy from an impact.
Part of me feels over reactionary to this, but just looking at that corner seems like its a horrible design. What happened to Perez was bound to happen eventually. The exit to the corner is essentially just the track, then that wall, then the run off. I'm surprised that more people don't go into the barrier there. Rosberg is lucky that he just missed it, because I think his accident would have been a lot worse.
That said, I don't really know how you could fix that, because if you straightened the track out so it wasn't a major braking zone, you would lose the only place you can overtake on the track.
edit: http://jalopnik.com/5806544/watch-rosbergs-and-perezs-monaco-grand-prix-crashes-side+by+side
There's a side by side video of the 2. Its amazing how well made these cars are that when the Sauber was pulled from the barrier, the right side pod had basically taken the entire impact. That said, I don't understand how Liuzzi's car detonated all over the track in practice when he clipped the wall in the first corner (I think).

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
The section where the crash happened used to be straight basically and a driver died there in the 60s (maybe more im not sure) So thatz why its there to slow the drivers down. What i would do its pull the barrier back even further so its at the end of the run off road, so basically the cars slow down more before they hit and theres more space in case the drivers get the braking wrong.
another idea wound be to build a barrier right up to the kerbing so if a car does go off it goes straight up the run off road and cant come back on to hit any cars.

Eh?! Forgot you were an F1 driver Slim.
That particular braking zone is over the crest of the hill, the car will always go light under braking into the Nouvelle Chicane, the car literally weighs less at that point, letting the rear wheels lock up more easily than normal. And as the drivers happen to be braking while turning through a right sweeper, the car will always compress and want to slide that way.
F1 cars current reliance on downforce to provide grip is causing these crashes. In days gone by, the drivers could easily prevent this from happening, but now, if I driver goes over a crest and the car pitches to the side, he can do nothing about it.
And as for him being an idiot... He was driving full pelt around Monaco trying to get as far up the grid as possible, I doubt he was too worried about being slightly off line. Besides, he probably instinctively was going to go over to the right hand side armco and brake, then flick the car in.

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
I wouldn't call him an idiot, just look at the number of incidents that's happend there over the years, Wendlinger 1994, Button 2004?, DC 2008, and Rosberg and Perez yesterday and they've all been the same incident it was not his fault at all it's just the profile of the corner and how the rear goes light over the crest when they're breaking on the bump! Simply not his fault.
