Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
i don't think what i want to say about this is going to be legal on TORA so i'll try to tone it down...
Bernie's a greedy money grabbing [censored] who doesn't realise that F1 viewing figures in Britain will now drop greatly, due to 2 reasons:
1. Not that many people can afford Sky Sports in this climate and people won't just go out and buy it because the F1's on.
2. The most important issue, through 2/3's of an F1 season the Premier League season is running as well so the race will be shown on Sky Sports 3 or 4 whereas some people will just have SS1 to save money meaning that this just isn't going to work out for Sky.
I think this is going to be the death of Formula 1!

It may be ad-free but I'm not paying for it aswell as a tv licence. May ditch Sky altogether soon aswell.

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
It's stupid that the BBC are "cutting back" because the tv license fee's been frozen, if they were really that interested in cutting back on things they wouldn't be spending over £100 million on moving to Salford when they've got all of the facilities in London!

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
Stolen from piston heads made me even more [Censored] off BBC just need to do a little cost cutting, I'll throw a few suggestions up there
Lets get rid of(stolen from bbc)
1. Graham Norton, The Graham Norton Show / Eurovision, £2m
2. Gary Lineker, Match Of The Day, £2m
3. Alan Hansen, MOTD, £1.4m
5. Anne Robinson, Weakest Link / Watchdog, £1m
6. Jeremy Paxman, University Challenge / Newsnight, £800,000
7. David Dimbleby, Question Time, £750,000
8. Trevor Eve, Waking The Dead, £700,000
9. John Humphrys, Today / Mastermind, £625,000
10. Andrew Marr, Andrew Marr Show / documentaries, £600,000
11 Chris Moyles, Radio 1, £600,000
12. Bruce Forsyth, Strictly Come Dancing, £550,000
13. Fiona Bruce, Antiques Roadshow / Newsreader, £500,000
14. Huw Edwards, Newsreader, £500,000
I've removed Chris Evans from the list, because I like him, and he's a huge petrol head.
I shall now be referring to Graham Norton as "the man who cost me 2 GPs"

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
Ecclestone speaking to the BBC: "It's super for F1. It will mean a lot more coverage for the sport... We get the best of both worlds."
Aka i get more money...
Just found this out. Alleged cost of F1 rights per year: £45m. Alleged cost of moving BBC depts (including Sport) to Salford: £900m

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
Honestly, that is just wrong. A) Not all of us have sky, B) For those who do, some of us don't pay the piss taking extras to get Sky Sport for free. In my opinion, this is gonna completely [Censored] up F1. Who in their right mind wants to watch highlights all the time. I [Censored] hate Sky and that old dickhead Rupert Murdoch. Bernie is just as bad aswell. Cos when Sky said "We'll have it", Bernies eyes changed to £ signs. Greedy [Censored].

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
I have all Sky Sports HD channels but even I didn't want this it's coverage won't compare and Martin Brundle posted to twitter that he's out of a contract. Also, what about practice? There gonna show it on Sky, so does that mean no replay of the practice session if it's on very early? (for example, China)
In short, BBC had the best coverage (BAFTA), best presenters, best reporters and best commentators. Maybe Mr. Ecclestone has lost touch with the struggles of the common man :'(

So for next years TORA F1, are we doing half the races on F1 2011 and half on iRacing?

HA! BBC News were just saying about it and they say on average they get about 3.6 million viewers a race. In 2012, that digit will have it's decimal removed and instead of million it will just be "people." 36 people. WE DONT ALL HAVE FRIGGIN' SKY! WE LIKED IT WHEN WE DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
Well, lets think of the positives. It's a great excuse for the pub. A pub full of F1 fans watching it on the big screen downing some pints. Sounds good to me!

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
Gareth Jones as pit reporter would be fantastic. He did the A1GP, and was ITV's back-up pit reporter for Ted Kravitz, and the guy is a complete F1 nut.

Re: OFFICIAL F1 2011
No adverts on the coverage? I'm not suprised! Especially if you have to pay for it! It would be like BBC with adverts! I think showing it in the pubs would be kind of rare. Because most pubs ALWAYS show football over anything, but when they do show it, it would create a great atmosphere! They would be all split into groups! Team McLaren, Team RBR, etc. Can't imagine all the shouting when say Hamilton overtakes Alonso! "YEEEEAAAAAAHHHH" (From Team McLaren) "BOOOOO... Hamiltons a c*!!" "O RLY!?!? Lets take this outside!"

I can guarantee that won't happen for 2/3's of the season because of the football, that always takes preference over F1 in pubs and just because F1's going to be shown on Sky that won't change!

If someone's already posted the link to the petition, I'm sorry. I just haven't had time today to read all the posts.
Its amazing really the response to this new deal. And all I can say is, I haven't seen one positive comment yet about this new deal. What an absolute joke the BBC are! And Bernie Ecclestone mainly!
