TASCAR 2012 - Rules & Regulations TASCAR1

General Rules & Driving Etiquette

TASCAR racing, as defined by TORA, is a non-contact sport. It is understandable that on occasion some contact may occur that is not expected by either party, for example due to lag. Competitors with 'lag' issues will not be penalized, but may be asked to improve their connection, if the issue is persistently hindering other's experiences please see connection section.

TORA expects competitors who partake in its championships and meetings to behave in an appropriate and respectable manner. Insulting comments or behaviour towards fellow competitors and race stewards is unacceptable and will be dealt with severely.

Competitors who are being followed on a straight part of a track by another car may move their position on the track ONCE to defend, any further sufficient movement outside of cornering will be deemed as weaving and you may be reported to the race director or head steward after the race.

If a competitor leaves the track at any time, it is advised that extra caution is taken not to impede other drivers when rejoining, please check and look before rejoining the track. Common courtesy stipulates that a driver in a dangerous position on the circuit should alert oncoming drivers of their position to avoid additional incidents.

Track Limits

The track limits are determined by the solid white lines either side of the track. At all times, two wheels must remain on this part of the circuit, unless of an occurrence where it is near to impossible to keep two wheels on the track, like avoiding a collision.

The track limits must be adhered to in the event of gaining an advantage whilst having an on-track battle. If a driver overtakes a driver by getting all four wheels off the track, the driver must give that position back before they may continue the race. If the driver which was overtaken backs off heavily either through incident or "mechanical" failure, then the position will not need to be given back.

Race Rules

Safety Car/Caution Rules

When The Safety Car is Used
The Safety Car will be deployed when Two or more drivers are involved in an incident and severely impairs their progress. Only driver(s) involved in an incident may request the Safety Car to the Lobby Captain. A Safety Car can be called up to the penultimate lap of the race. Once the leader has crossed the line to start the Final Lap, the caution/Safety Car cannot be called.

Forming a Safety Car Period
When the Safety Car period is agreed upon, and goes into effect, the Lead Driver at the time of the Safety Car 'Call', will act as the Safety Car and pace around the track at the track's designated 'pace' speed. All will form in single-file. SEEING THE STOCK CARS DO NOT HAVE BRAKE LIGHTS, PLEASE DO NOT SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN. THIS WILL CAUSE CHAOS. PLEASE JUST LET OFF THE THROTTLE AND FORM UP CAREFULLY!!!

Conduct During a Safety Car Period
While under the Safety Car period, Those involved in the incident should line up at the back of the grid. All competitors are free to pit under the Safety Car/Caution period, but must form back up in order when they left pit lane at the back of the grid. Before going back to green, the field will line up two-by-two in the positions they are currently in. Once the Leader has passed the Final Corner, he can call out the restart by counting down "3..2..1..Go/Green."

Lucky Dog Award
The Lucky Dog Award is used under Caution/Safety Car periods only. The first person 1 lap behind will be awarded the 'Lucky Dog' to get back on the Lead lap, and allowed to pass the lead cars under caution and lining back up at the back of the field. The drivers involved in the incident that brought out the Safety Car/Caution, are not eligible for the 'Lucky Dog'.

- "Green-White-Checkered"
The "Green-White-Checkered" rule takes effect when a Safety Car/Caution is called on the penultimate lap. the Final Lap will end under caution in present order each driver is in at the time of caution. Once all drivers are back to the main lobby, the race settings will change to 3 laps, for the Green-White-Checkered attempt. One the 1st lap, will be to form up in order drivers finished the 'Scheduled Distance', Lap 2 & 3 are green flag laps. If there is an incident on the first green flag lap, the safety car/caution will be called, and the 3rd lap in this session will be under caution, and will have another "Green-White-Checkered" attempt. 3 Attempts are the maximum. As stated above though, as soon as the Lead Driver crosses the line to start the Final lap, the Caution or Safety Car cannot be called.

Race Restarts
The race lobby is subject to One restart attempt if more than 50% of the lobby is involved in a major incident within the first lap. Everyone will head back to the race lobby, and try again, forming up the same as the grid formation before. if another major incident occurs, standard Safety Car rules take effect.

Race Meeting Set-Up

We ask that all competitors are on Xbox live 15 minutes prior to the start of the race meeting, and appear online. Where necessary, if each competitor could post "In" in the relevant race meeting thread on the TORA forums. Anyone who wishes to race without posting "In" will need to wait for the race meeting organizers confirmation before being allowed to race. Certain factors may come into account, such as if there are 16 people racing, and one person who hasn't posted in would cause a split lobby of 9 and 8 in each lobby, in decision making for those not posted in before the event.

QUALIFYING

Qualifying will be held at 8pm GMT/BST (3pm EST), apart from any driver who is experiencing connection issues. Qualifying will start no later than 5 minutes after the 'top of the hour'.

Settings
-Oval Races
Everyone will line up on the apron of the track once the game starts, and one driver will qualify at a time.
-Road Course
There will be a roll-off delay between cars to give clean air to get a lap in
--Qualifying will be set to 4 Laps. 1-warm up lap, 2-Flying laps, and 1-cool down lap so times can be gathered. 'Clean' Laps take priority over 'Dirty' Laps. So Make them count!
Once qualifying is over, results will be posted. Anyone who has not qualified will join the race at the back of the field.

RACE

The race starts at 9pm GMT/BST (4pm EST), so be prepared to get lobby invites 15 minutes prior to start time.

-For Oval Races, There will be TWO 50-lap segments to cover 100 total laps*. (Benchmark Oval being the exception due to track size)
-For Road Course Races, There will be a set number of laps for the event, +1 lap. one extra lap for the Formation/Pace Lap.

Rolling Start
Competitors will form up behind the Safety Car to start the Formation/Pace Lap in a 2-by-2 fashion. The Pole Sitter will have choice over which side of the Grid to start on. We ask all drivers to listen to the lobby host for the pace speed and grid order. Once everyone is in position, the Safety Car will pull off into pit lane, and count the field down to the Green Flag.

Mandatory Pit Stops
There is 1 mandatory pit stop in each race (or race segment). Taking your pit stop under a Safety Car/Caution period will count as your Mandatory pit. You may not pit within the first 5 laps or last 5 laps of a race or race segment.

Settings
- Collisions will be set to On, and set with Limited Damage. Cosmetic Damage will be applied to Benchmark Race Meetings as there is no pit lane to make repairs if needed.
- ABS, STM, and TCS are forced off for this series. all others are fair game.
