It was at the Play Expo event I was at this weekend and I walked past it like six times thinking it was Halo Reach. Didn't figure out it was Halo 4 until after I'd left.

Have you been watching Forward Unto Dawn? Fantastic production values, loving it so far.
It's getting me fired up for Halo 4, so much so I have installed Halo Anniversary to play on my bedroom Xbox. I guess in that respect, Forward Unto Dawn is doing its job as a marketing tool.

I'd think it's before Reach, it seems to be following the Halo background fairly closely. But Halo Reach the game completely contradicted the Fall Of Reach book, so it's difficult to tell now that the canon has been rewritten.

Microsft has announced THREE map packs for Halo 4. One coming in December, one coming in Feb. and the other coming in April.
3 maps each makes 9 new maps!
You can get the "Map Pass" (errr Season's Pass anyone?) for $24.99US in MS.

I have it and am planning on taking it to work to try read it before I get back. Think I only read half of the last one though...
Played through Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3: ODST over the last week. Ran out of time to play Halo 3 before I go to work, but will probably play it again before Halo 4. Playing ODST right after Halo 2 and before Halo 3 was the right call. Gutted I am missing Halo 4 launch by 4 days or so. I think I have missed every Halo launch day
Oh and Atlas/Halo Waypoint mobile has been available on the iPad since Halo Reach came out. It's pretty cool, but also slightly pointless.

well I've finished reading The Thursday War. kinda an anticlimactic ending if you ask me. Glasslands had the biggest cliffhanger I've ever seen. so big I was left legitimately pissed for a full week.

Glasslands ended with the ONI Sangheili specialist getting bombed by somebody whilst he was the arbiters guest on Sangheilios. You soon find out that it was the Brutes rebelling againsts the Elites.
After they sorted that out (ie shooting the Brutes) the specialist, Phillips was left to explore the Forerunner building they were staying in. At the same time 'Telcam, the Elite in charge of attempting to overthrow the arbiter using ONI supplied weapons decided to surprise the arbiter and attack while the Brutes were causing trouble, effectively starting a Civil War on Sangheilios.
Meanwhile Kilo-Five, after discovering that Naomi's father was a head honcho within the Insurrectionist network, got called back to rescue Phillips. Admiral Hood at the Arbiters blessing to land Kilo-Five ON Sangheilios to get him. So even tho they tried to find him, Phillips accidentally activated a portal within the building, sending him a long ways from where K5 was supposed to get him, they eventually found him via radio chatter and subsequently picked him up. After which he was certain he found the loactions of the other Halo's (and Reqiuem) but needed to crack the Forerunner coordinate system (which is still a work in progress).
Now the ONI fed rebels were now fighting the FLEET (via a test deployment of the UNSC Infinity, whilst still getting Forerunner technology from ONYX/Trevelyan and the Huragok) backed Arbiter squad (ironic, yes) and they each ended up destorying more Covenant ships (which was ONI's plan, that FLEET had no idea about).
At the end of the Glasslands, ONI caught and imprisioned an Elite named 'Jul because he found out about the ONI fed 'Telcam squad and was gonna blab to high heaven about it. They used him to find out what the Elites ate, and then aquired said crops and cattle and figured out to bio-engineer the crop to become a deadly poision, that they intended on introducing to Sangheilios, effectivly starving the whole species. Oh, forgot to mention they brought him to Trevelyan (formerally know as ONYX. It was renamed after the Spartan-II Kurt's REAL last name, who died on Onyx whilst protecting other Spartan-II's and III's, and Halsey)
However, 'Jul escaped via a portal to a Sangheili occupied world that wasn't Sangheilios and in the process stumbled upon the real coordinates of Reqiuem, and was now just waiting to get troops together and find the right ships capable of travelling to Reqiuem. The whole point in doing so was to A) Start a 3rd party to overthrow either the arbiter or 'Telcam because they both had human help one way or another and B) to wake the didact and get him to purge the galaxy of humans, since he hates them because he fought them for a very long time before the flood came)
The last thing that you need to know is that K5 went back to snoop on Naomi's (a Spartan-II) father. They were going to tell him (at an appropriate time) that he'd been right about the gov't taking his daughter away, and then Naomi would revel herself to him. But they (and Naomi) were prepared to shoot him for the sake of the Earth. They last spotted him with the Kig-Yar that stole a very big Covie ship, capable of Glassing a planet, and they wanted (as well as 'Telcam) to find it so either ONI could destroy it and put the Elites back in the dark ages in terms of technolgy or use it if 'Telcam found it.
THINGS TO KNOW:
Halsey is now Parangosky's (head of ONI) bitch, doing menial labour and only a very small clutch of people know she's not dead. Basically in exile.
UNSC Infinity is one BAD ASS ship. It took out Eliter ships from orbit without so much as a sneeze. It can enter/exit slipspace INSANELY ACCURATE, and the travel time is a LOT faster. It can communicate whilst in slip now and it has bad ass weapons and the Huragok aboard are just making everything insane awesome.
No mention of the Cheif, or any other spartans-II's or III's apart from Naomi and Serin (the latter being the ONI captain and soon to be the head of ONI. She was a rejected spartan-II that failed augmentaition and then she stayed in ONI and became Parangosky's protoge.
Spartan-IV's were mentioned, but not by name. The most they said was that one was "a nice bloke".
