F4H Koenigsegg wrote:Not a great qualifying session by myself. Before qualify in practice I couldn't get into the groove. After 15 minutes in qualify I hit the inside wall at Turn 1, 11% front damage and 5% sides damage. Not much, but it's still damage and lost 1 or 2 kph down the straight. Only managed a 2:03.3xx at that time. Luckily my lovely Abruzzi didn't feel that much different. Eventually I could still manage a 2.9. Was up for a 2.6 though.
Race should be great and hopefully I can have a great first stint again. Good luck everyone! Fingers crossed!
Somehow after we bantered I was watching Swedish chef whilst eating a bit of Toblerone and browsing an IKEA leaflet in the Support race lobby, Not even kidding, that is actually what happened

Any experienced people out there want to give us first time LMPers some words of wisdom on dealing with getting around traffic safely? A DO / DO NOT list? The 10 commandments of multi-class racing passes?

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Sebring - General Discussion
Stay out if blind spots, pass on the outside in corners, and inside on straights. Straights are the best place to get by people (obviously). Pretend like the GT car you are passing does not see you and that their back end will kick out at any time. Remember, in the beginning of the race, people are antsy, thus they will make more mistakes than usual, give them wide birth to get by. Getting delayed a bit is always better than getting damage... Especially early damage. Try, at all costs to avoid rear damage. Call out passes if you are skeptical about a driver... Or if you they look to be occupied with a battle. If you are the second of two LMP cars closly following someone that is passing slower traffic, make sure that the GT car knows that you are there, people can get in a bit of a zone and not realize there is more than one car in the train following eachother.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Sebring - General Discussion
LMP:
1) Be patient.
2) Plan your moves 2-3 or more corners ahead.
3) Think that GT guys dont have the down force you have.
4) If you hit a GT car YOU will come off worse.
5)Rememeber its 12hours being held up for a corner isnt the end of the race there and then.
GT:
1) Stick to your racing lines.
2) Dont panic when LMP's are lapping
3)Its 12 hours dont rush into diving out of the way of LMP's they have most likey picked when and where they are lapping you.
4) Be aware of your surroundings check mirrors every few corners and check mini map of LMP guys.
Dont know how helpful this is but never mind. lol

If you are in an LMP and you are patient then you won't have any issues.
Re: TORA 12 Hours of Sebring - General Discussion
It's my first time racing LMP, but in a little practice session with GT Bots I discovered what everyone above has said is quite helpful. Also, make sure you don't cut in too soon after passing a GT car. You may think you cleared them but it turns out their nose is still ahead of your rear.

This x1onemillion
Having done a lot of races now, where I'm in the lowest powered/aerod car, one of the worst things to have is a faster car pushing and trying to force a pass through.
A lot of the time, the slower cars will be prettey much commited to the line they are taking, its very difficult to adjust mid corner/braking to try and make room for a much faster car that absolutely must be past you NOW
Calling your approach is nice, most of us notice you coming on the map/rear view, but if we are in our own fight for position, chance are we just wont realise you are approaching, and you might find that the beautiful pass you had lined up in the braking zone, suddenly becomes a panic brake as the GTE in front of you tries to make a pass as well. Nothing malicious, just in the zone.
If you are the second or even 3rd car in a train, this is especially important, as you all merge together on the map, and as the first passes, the other cars are easily missed.
Perhaps less obvious, is for the GTE cars MUST stay on line. Ive seen some especially nasty crashes where lower cars try to be helpful and move off line, only for the fast car not to have anticipated this. Cue a trip to the pits, and a lot of time lost for all the cars involved.

Also remember that LMP's have much better brakes!! Don't be directly behind a GTE going into a braking zone.

I'm racing in gt, when ive raced in this type of thing staying out on the far left on the straights has helped.but it's best to just get on with your race, trying to second quess the lmp car's every lap will only end in tears

Yeah, LMPs will find a way past. It's better to lose a second and a half by waiting slightly than to lose 30+ by crashing.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Sebring - General Discussion
Looking at the Q times, it appears Im well off the pace in the Ford GT, Has anyone else got a tune that works well around here, I could try please?
(I'm painfully aware that the driver makes the biggest difference!)

LMP1 - Always find safest way around traffic
GTE - Stick to your line do not do not pull over
