Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Media
The opening round of the TCR Trans Am Championship and a mighty fine way to spend a couple of hours it was too!! Twenty one drivers qualifying for the opening round around the Mazda Laguna Seca, a wide variety of tin on show as well which is always good to see in these events.
From a team point of view, we do like a duel in the Across The Pond camp, and with myself and Flying Ace stepping forward for this series, we certainly have both got a fight on our hands against each other for this one, we are very even in the driving stakes, and i think last night, we wern't split by more than one hundred feet all night long. I will be doing a small team report after each round on the Wheelwash Racing & Media Forum , or the office as its known and this weeks is already up with a choice selection of shots involving the ATP Camaro and ATP Pontiac, usually in the same shot and congratulations to Flying Ace on taking the first round, by three tenths of a second in race two last night, although being nearly forty, it does take a while for this old grumpy git to get warmed up these days, i will be back.
A few shots then from yesterday evening, a big thank you for the team involved, a nice smooth running to kick a series off is always a good thing, and it was spot on last night, Kilroy doing a superb job in Lobby One holding us all in an organised order. The racing was superb, from the drop of the first green flag, very close, very intense in the mid pack battles that were braking out.
Congratulations to BG Beanz on the win double in the Gulf Plymouth, but credit to all, a good fun lobby to be involved with and certainly a rather good start to the series. Next up Maple Valley Reverse, so a real chance to stretch the legs on the classic collection and no doubt, a game of chicken with the kerbs.
The full collection of pictures are now posted on the Wheelwash Racing & Media Facebook Page , go on try it, you might just like it!!
Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Media

Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Media
Are there any replays of these races on the storefront for the media team photographers to have a bash at? I have had a quick look but can't seem to find any. If possible, could you put "TORA TCR" in the keywords; just makes them that bit easier to find. Thanks all.

That overtake i did look amazing from you POV, myself and Kilroy were so close around that first corner but we didn't touch at all... that was after the race in the motorhome!

Re: TCR Vintage Trans Am Media
I didn't actually realise we got that close. But we were going about 70 in old Muscle cars around the Andretti Hairpin. It was intense
Also, for the people who didn't see it, Beanz was fully behind me on the run down to turn 1, pulled to the outside, braked later, kept good corner speed, drover round me, side by side into turn 2, he takes the lead. I was in total awe!

Nice racing Kilroy, very clean again, so so close but very fair. I knew i had to make a move as you came out the pits on cold tires so i slapped one up the inside and made it stick...

^^^ A couple spots back, Wheelwash, Bandit and myself were doing the same thing.
Fun race tonight. Hoping for more of the same at Infineon.

While I always look forward to Wheelwash's photo essays, I am especially anticipating this week's edition, as there was a long close but squeaky clean battle between him in the Pontiac, Bandit's Challenger, and my Mustang. This should create some great pics.

Bad news Mikey, the replay didnt go that far for myself, i very rarely get replays past the fifteen minutes mark, cant explain why, always been the same, i do have a picture though of why the Trans Am was dropping down like a stone, handling like a 1986 Fiat Uno and losing a second a lap.
I thought i only glanced the wall, until i saw the amount of damage i had inflicted on myself, and came to the conclusion the glance was more a clobbered it!! Another cracking night of action though, popping the Trans Am third on the grid in qualifying was a very happy result, the sprint race went reasonable well also, but come the main event and a disappointing run for myself, finishing tenth by the end of the eighteen lap feature and giving the ATP body shop plenty of overtime straightening out the '73 Firebird for Infineon next week.
The Battle Of GM between myself and team mate ATP Flying Ace was denied this week as the evil that is work took hold and prevented Ace from running in the Maple Valley round, fingers crossed back next week and i will take the glory for the week, even if it was by default. Congratulations to VAMR Wilson on the double race win in the Mercury Cougar, LMR Agera for chasing hard for a couple of runner up spots seeing him ahead in the Championship Standings.
A few photos then, as always the full collection of pictures are now posted on the Wheelwash Racing & Media Facebook Page , go on try it, you might just like it!! Although cell phone users, it is a very picture heavy site, so you have been warned.
A trip to wine country next up then, perfect for us alcoholics with the TORA Spec also there on Wednesday and the venue being one of my test tracks, be looking forward to round three in Sonoma.
