Team Hotwheels switches to Ferrari for 2014 GT campaigns

Team Hotwheels will swap from SRT to Ferrari machinery for the rest of its 2014 GT campaigns.

The Anglo-American team, which finished a credible 13th at Sebring last weekend with the SRT Viper GTS-R, has decided to run the Ferrari 458 GT for its 2014 programmes.

Team manager JP Hackett (MotoYeti), who founded the team ahead of the 2013 season, said: "The choice to enter the Ferrari 458 is the result of a long thought process.

"Our discussions within the team were very positive and we were convinced by the 458's qualities."

The Hotwheels team stated that it expects to announce what it is calling a "multi-faceted programme" in the coming weeks.

A return to TORA ISCC appears likely and it is also looking at other opportunities to race the car using the FM4 platform.

The team is also evaluating an LMP entry for the TEC series, competing in a Ferrari engined Lola.

The team are now in the process of preparing for Le Mans and recruiting drivers for both teams.
