WRM Online - Legends Of Motorsport Season One

Event Rules & Regulations

An Introduction

We at Across The Pond have always embraced the spirit of a series, to us the winning isnt everything, we arnt good enough, but driving a car, painted to the correct time era of a series is a must. For example, you would never see an energy drink sponsor on a 1970's GT car from ATP, you would get a 70's looking car, replica based when possible, we like to think of it as being a part of a show, and not just a race.

Legends Of Motorsport is our attempt at stepping back in time and celebrating some of the icons that graced the world of motorsports. It will be a very varied topic, it may involve a certain make of car, as example later in the year we have a Ford Mustang series planned celebrating the 50th anniversary of the car, we also have a 60's and 70's look at European Touring Cars and to kick things off for season one, we step back to a time of great change in Australia as the Group A Era in the Australian Touring Car Championship saw the introduction of the imports, and the shaping to the big show of which the modern day V8 Supercars have become.

From the very beginning, in the mid 80's, with Allan Moffat and his tiny Mazda RX-7, which took on the big Holden and Ford V8's, through the dominance of the Ford RS500 and Nissan Skyline, with Jim Richards keeping the German BMW's at the sharp end in the classic M3 E30's, and not forgetting the Ford Mustang GT, a car that the budget racer could still pick up and be involved in the biggest show in Australia at the time, the Bathurst 1000.

This will be a five week series, commencing on Saturday 6th February 2015 at 20:00 GMT, which due to the unique obsession of NASCAR i know is 15:00 EST and on the Gold Coast of Australia a 06:00 AEST start time on a Sunday morning or as we like to call it, complete dedication for a race.

This series will be like all series on WRM Online, Full Simulation, both in the race and also in Qualifying, although the collisions will be turned off in qualifying, but the walls are still rock hard.

Theres just the one Championship on offer, the Drivers Championship, which will go to the man with the most points at the end of the season. The Points System is slightly different on WRM Online, we want positions to matter, but also  attendance rewarded in the final table.

Points Table

3rd12pts
4th10pts

The Points table is based on the points table from the 1987 - 1991 Australian Touring Car Championship
