Drop Race Discussion
Hello, I recently had a thought that since were scheduled on a Day when usually people go out and socialize, drivers might find difficulty making all the races. This in part leads to the final championship standings being manipulated by driver's attendance. To solve this I came up with the idea of having two drop races (Or In This Case Two Rounds) which will be available to all drivers just in case life throws a curve ball at us. Let's just say you make all the races, well, your two lowest round finishes will be taken out of your final championship tally. What do you guys think? I know it would help up out a lot of us which haven't made all the races.
Thanks for your time,
Christian Gomez

Re: Drop Race Discussion
I'm not a fan of drop rounds in my opinion. I can understand that people sometimes have real life commitments that clash with online racing and it becomes impossible to make a round or 2. However if someone turns up week in week out and does all the rounds but gets bumped down by someone who missed a round then I see that as it being slightly harsh on the person who mad all the rounds. Add to that there is the risk of confusion in points standings and where you actually are in the standings. I see why people would want it introduced but it adds unnecessary pressure on the staff who run the series and in my opinion doesn't reward consistency of drivers.

Re: Drop Race Discussion
Would it be possible to give a small point bonus to those who make every round?
I feel similarly to Connor, and I would fully agree if it were RL races, but we're on Xbox. Those who commit and show up consistently should be rewarded, but those who have a conflict once shouldn't be penalized. For instance, "xl IC3MaN412 lx" was unable to attend one of the rounds due to connection issues. He was there, committed and ready to race, but he conceded and let the race continue.

Re: Drop Race Discussion
Hear Hear! I think drop rounds can be good and can also be bad so a point bonus for turning up to all races sounds good meaning that even with the drop round, consistent racers still have a good chance for a high spot at the end of the championship.
Re: Drop Race Discussion
Speaking from those who missed a race already, I knew about the no drop round when I signed up, so having missed a race I've already accepted it. For me its still a challenge to get back into A lobby for race 2.
I say no drop round simply because at this point its a manipulation of the standings when we've already reached 5 rounds in (this week). If we were talking about this before the season started, my answer would be different. But there's no point now. Drivers who've worked hard to make all the races should have an advantage for those who didn't/couldn't.

Re: Drop Race Discussion
Not part of the series, but I've always found drop rounds in large calendars like this to be very useful
Re: Drop Race Discussion
Dropped rounds screw over the dedicated driver's while supporting the quick but could careless guys...
Its just the facts not trying to start a fight just calling it how I see it

Re: Drop Race Discussion
As far as i know (correct me if im wrong), the real life Indycar Series doesn't have a drop round so why should we?

Re: Drop Race Discussion
Well Connor to counter your statement real Indycar teams and drivers do that for a living, so they are in attendance every race. For us however who do this as a hobby dont have the contracts real drivers do and sometimes life throws us unexpected events. For example work or an emergency. So with a championship like this of 5 months anything can happen during that time so I think drivers deserve the security.

real life dont use this point system. they have a system where if you did miss a race its still mathematically possible to catch up unlike this tora system. so your point is invalid.
pretty much all medium to long tora series events have a drop round. only the short say 4-5 races dont have one. this series is very long. so it is odd that it doesn't have a drop round which is why it has been brought up
a lag out is fine cuz youll get last place points and can technically still be in the championship. cant make an event and its pointless showing up because your out. so for the people that missed a race and are out of any chance of a points battle, they might feel there is no need to show up anymore. and if people dropped out the series and numbers got slim itl ruin what so far is a fun series.
this aint real life its a game. if you didnt want this discussion it should have had a better point system to cater for lack of a drop round. this point system in a real life series would be retarded. it works on tora because it keeps it close. so to keep it close have a dropped round

Re: Drop Race Discussion
Valid point about the point system, maybe we can look into doing something different for next season of indycars.

Re: Drop Race Discussion
Me and Law were contending for the championship and now that we both missed a race, I dont even think we can try to win it mathematically anymore because of the point system, and if we can its almost impossible. Its pretty ridiculous in my opinion......

Re: Drop Race Discussion
Also RAC and Team GH-Prime are leading the charge for this drop race proposition when if you look at it from a mathematical point, both teams have the most to lose out of this ordeal. We're willing to do this because everyone deserves a fair shot at the championship when Indy comes around. Implementing this will be the difference between having two drivers going for the title, or 6 drivers going for the title.
