Re: TORA Pro GT Road America 1,000 - Media
Wasnt involved in the original series, but the chance to run Road America over a longer distance was too hard to resist. Teamed up with a former team mate in ATP Jeep for the event, selling Mr GM a ride in the Corvette wasnt exactly the hardest job in the world either, the only handicap now being my talent, or lack of it, but being slow does have its advantages, watcing the leaders come by to lap you being one of them, you can learn their lines for the twenty seconds before they have disappeared beyond the horizon again.
Paint wise, the inspiration, or otherwise known as no imagination for an original paint, is the V8 Racing Corvette from the
We look forward to seeing a few of you on track.

Re: TORA Pro GT Road America 1,000 - Media
The Le Mans Rennsport were the hosts for a one off special from their popular Pro GT Series, with the Road America 1000kms. 156 laps around Wisconsin's finest faced the twenty three teams starting the event, including myself, teaming up with ATP Jeep for the event. The car of choice was the Chevrolet Corvette, selected for the only reason that its a Chevrolet Corvette, no testing done as choosing a car matters more on paint ideas and good old fashioned lucky dips, far more entertaining than testing in my opinion, although that may well explain why im also usually lower down the order and anyone remembering the old VM Stock Hatch Series, i was the one that drove the Citroen C4 one season and that went as bad as Citroen made it looked.
After the disaster which was qualifying for myself, wrong time, forgot to load tune, the race pace was in a far better place, i could run 2:07's, comfortable all day long, which unfortunately still wasnt in competition with most folks in this event, but i could have targets and goals to aim for. I guess the main goal would have to be the #337 Eurol Dodge Viper containing former team mates, ATP Rage, ATP Ginge and P Friks and in the good old spirit of inter - team rivalry. well its how the team works really. Add to the spice, ATP Ginge being in the same two stints as myself and the fact that we have been in each others way since the start of our online careers nearly four years ago now, just a week apart then, although i will admit, he has a big edge on me currently in the speed department and so it proved in this one as the red white and blue disappeared out of the windscreen in the same of around three laps.
The first stint went really well, apart from a run of 2:08's in the mid part of the race and a couple of slight off road excursions, one of which let ATP Ginge through, who must have been chuckling to himself, it was a solid outing, i never gave up the chase to the blue dot in front, even though the gap never stopped growing and come the end of lap 39 and the chequered flag, a good start to the day.
ATP Jeep was the man on a mission, he was rock solid in the Corvette all day long, dropping his laptimes into the 2:05's and thankfully, the connection gods were playing in his favour this week. He didnt overturn the gap, but certainly closed it up, although that soon altered as i stepped back in the car for stint three.
The start of stint three started well enough, again, trying to follow the blue dot which was getting further away with every lap, but by the halfway point, the body was starting to not work too well as my health issues raised their ugly head. The 2:07 lap times turned into 2:08's, and 2:09's by the end. A small amount of engine damage certainly wasnt helping the cause and Paul 299 in the Allied Forces Ferrari must have been thinking i was drunk with the amount of off road excursions i was taking.
The last few laps were tough, im not fully sure how i managed it to be honest, i was lapped by F4H Micko, although i did strangely gain a position as Paul 299 suffered the hardest piece of luck you can imagine lagging out on the final lap of stint three, less than two miles from home, which was very harsh. I cant remember anything after the checkered flag, the next i saw it was 04:30am and i had Avenged Sevenfold on the headphones and was in that special place.
ATP Jeep had some time to make up, which he did and then some, although the gap was alot smaller that i thought going into the final round, the no fuss attitude from ATP Jeep, he just went to business popping in the quickest stint amongst the ATP drivers, and certainly myself. In the end, a total time of 325:51:00, good enough for 14th overall, one place and three minutes quicker than the ATP Eurol Viper, but more importantly, smiles all around from a very well organised event.
With all the delays to Project CARS, the unbelievable hype that its also generating and the highly unlikeliness that it wont be as good as everyone is expecting, its good to know that Forza 5 is still lasting out on the pace front and that organisations like TORA are continuing to support the game. Yes we are all looking to see what Project CARS brings, but more events like this and the Forza name wont be going anywhere.
A couple of thank you's to hand out, firstly my team mate for the event in ATP Jeep, i may have left Across The Pond, but its certainly not on bad terms and it was good to run a Vette with him, even though i dont think i actually spoke to him online once, i simply havent had a chance to do anything recently, except for a few words across Facebook, i havent exactly been the team player, instead real world life just getting in the way. To xl IC3MaN412 lx who ran the lobby for both of my stints and made a superb professional job of host, everything explained and its a job that never gets thanks and having been in that position myself a large number of times, i know what a thankless task it is. Also to LMR, never had a chance to run the series as it clashed with other commitments, but everything was updated and sorted in next to no time, even when delays happened, they were announced and no complaints from this department at all.
Re: TORA Pro GT Road America 1,000 - Media
Nice write up. Stint 3 was fun and I noticed you had a few off track moments but no more than me. I'd finally given up on catching you then you went off track on the second to last lap so I finally managed to pass you only for me to lag out one lap later.
My reaction was somewhat explosive and laden full off expletives, so much so my cats ran out the house and have only dared venture back in today!!
