So I get home from work sometime after 10pm on Wednesday night, ready to enjoy two days off in a row, only to find two bags packed on my bed. I figure that either the missus is leaving me, or we're going away somewhere. My girlfriend confirms the latter, and tells me that we are going a long trip away the next morning. The only thing she'll tell me is that it is England we are going to, then heads for bed. I try and work out what it could be, and guess that the only thing I know is on that i would have any interest in is MPH, featuring Top Gear Live. After we set off the next morning, she admits that my guess is correct, and that it is on at the Birmingham NEC.

The show was very good, with some awesome stunts like the Stig tackling an indoor loop-the-loop in a Rage buggy, a Suzuki Swift doing very very fast donuts on an elevated platform, the Top Gear guys having a drag race in vehicles made from gardening equipment, a noise-powered race, lots of stunts from Paul Swift and the Ford Stunt Team, and a Reliant Robin race. MPH had some cracking cars too, favourites being Hammond's Suzuki Vitara police car, an original Ford GT, a Veyron and loads more.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, except for the horrendous roadworks in the Birmingham area... I will never, ever complain at the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow again, the M6 and M5 were utterly broken by the chaos, didn't think I was going to make it to the NEC at one point.

But I am looking forward to Top Gear's return this weekend.
