A day out at the races....
Well....what a fantastic afternoon spent at Pure Tech Racing (www.puretechracing.com).
I'm sure you'll hear more details in the near future of our day out at the centre, but for now, here's the sector times and telemetry graphs from my laps. Very pleased to see that my plot (the red line) is perfectly on the optimum lap line (blue), braking in all the right places and flat through the middle sector (takes balls!) - just need to sort out braking slightly less at certain corners (where the troughs are deeper than optimum). It's amazing just how much more the car had to give, considering I certainly wasn't hanging about! Makes my Nissan look slippery by comparisson!! Oh, and in the second session - some awesome wheel bashing and side-by-side action with John Hindhaugh - what a laugh!!

Circuit de Aviano - A Puretech creation aimed at getting everyone used to the simulators whilst keeping everyone on a level playing field of not knowing the circuit. It's quite a nice track with a good mix of corners. I love the middle sector which is flat out in 7th if you're brave enough!
Real-world circuits will be rolled out soon once people are up to speed with the way things work there.

Re: A day out at the races....
Oooh, thats from Netkar Pro!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKfzuhZM6Hc
Netkar Pro is one of the most realistic sims out there, definetally on par with iRacing physics wise from what I have heard. I think its pretty cheap to buy for the PC, if not free.. There are free beta versions of it I think.

Re: A day out at the races....
looks like a good track wouldn't it be really cool if some new f1 track was designed to look like a track that was made for a driving game

Yes, the PTR sims are run on a modified version of NKP. It's only 19.90 Euros for the full version.

PTR Sessions and Telemetry
Just come back from my second full session at PTR, this time with Jamie (aka Chucky1982). Had an awesome time, and I believe he enjoyed it too; this being his first session in the simulators.
Session 1 saw me get a best lap of 1:03.9xx - a great improvement on last time, but was still not "understanding" a couple of corners. A few chats later and onto Session 2. This time starting on the grid (as opposed to starting from the garage), and racing alongside Jamie and another chap who was along for the day - Dan Wells - an upcoming driver who just got a class win in Formula Ford at Brands last weekend, so no slouch in competition there then! I'd already seen him run 1:02.xxx earlier in the day so....!
I managed to stay with Dan for a little while, but made a couple of mistakes and he was away, but in free air, I started to get the hang of the one particular corner that was giving me the most grief and the times started to tumble, ending with me, exstatic, in the 1:02s too, with a 1:02.925. Dan set a new lap record of 1:02.130- a target for next time! Jamie was in the 1:05s I believe - a very respectable time for the first time out learning the track, and well on par with what myself Matt and AJ were doing in our first sessions.
I'll get the telemetry scanned and up tomorrow. Can't wait to go again now - thinking of doing a couple of sessions with my Dad as a Fathers Day present, though I'm sure he'll see through that!!

Re: A day out at the races....
Wow the difference between the first trace and the second is much improved
Re: A day out at the races....
Well its because of that trace is why Ii improved I could see where I was going wrong and macthed to where on track that is and just thought fine I will push in that section and thats what I did, they need this on forza

Re: A day out at the races....
And indeed that is how real life works
Albeit with ALOT more data. It's a bloody useful tool when you understand it. But how many of the 'casual' Forza gamers would actually be able to understand/use/get the most out of telemetry like that.

Re: A day out at the races....
I meant to post these up last week. As before, the blue line is the lap record, the red line is my trace:
1st session - a marked improvement on the last time I was up at PTR, thanks to the understanding that I could push harder than I had before, I was now trying to find just where the limit was, often by going slightly beyond it.
2nd session - now that I know where I can push hard, the biggest hurdle was a particularly tricky downhill right-hander. Once I understood the best way to take this corner I was right on it!

Re: A day out at the races....
Still braking slightly later into the final turn it seems but damn that's near enough on it!
Re: A day out at the races....
Wheres your graphs from your trip Matt? and AJ while we're at it
