Qualifying for the Le Mans 2.4HR is nearly complete and only the car of jenson09 has so far been out on track. This was not without problems.
In the first session, the car ran well, topping the speed rankings at 225mph. Contact with the barriers in Porsche Curves damaged the car's aero stability and while jenson09 was able to drive around the problem, top speed was affected. The car still managed a 3.19.9 which was the fastest time set by the car including the extensive private testing sessions undertaken by the team.
jenson09 was understandably pleased with this result. However, subsequent times posted by other squads proved the Aston Martin still had work to do.
Upon starting session 2 the Lola Aston Martin ground to a halt shortly after the Dunlop chicane and would not restart. The organisers have allowed teams who have failed to complete two sessions to do so another time. Saturday evening is, therefore, crunch time for the THR squad. Y22 DJH has still to qualify and jenson09 needs to find that little bit extra to ensure his position in in the top 8.

It is a tense time in the British team.
